BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After posting the second-highest decathlon score in program history at the Navy Spring Invitational, Navy's
Nick Simmons was named the Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. The honor marks the first weekly conference award of Simmons' career.

Competing in Navy's first decathlon of the season, Simmons shined with a total of 7,413 points. He dominated the field by winning eight of the 10 events: the 100-meter dash (10.72), long jump (7.39 meters), shot put (13.97 meters), 400-meter dash (49.08), discus (40.48 meters), pole vault (4.15 meters), javelin (51.58 meters) and 1,500-meter run (4:37.74).

Simmons' 7,413 points currently lead both the Patriot League and the Mid-Atlantic region this season.

Navy returns to action for one of track and field's most prestigious events, the Penn Relays. Competition at Franklin Field in Philadelphia is scheduled to run Thursday through Saturday.
