#20 Water Polo Set for 2025 MAWPC Tournament

The second-seeded Midshipmen will take part in the three-day MAWPC Tournament this weekend.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The #20 Navy water polo team (20-8) are set to compete in the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Tournament this weekend at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center in the Bronx, N.Y. The second-seeded Midshipmen open the tournament on Friday, Nov. 21 at 4:30 p.m. against seventh-seeded Mercyhurst (2-20). The tournament continues through Sunday, Nov. 23 with the championship game slated for 12:00 p.m.
 
Tournament Information
Following the concluding weekend of regular season conference play, the seeding for the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship hosted by the Fordham University at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center in the Bronx, N.Y., is completed.
 
The 2025 MAPC Championship on Friday-Sunday, November 21-23, will be streamed at www.CWPATV.com (subscription required) at a cost of $15 per game or $35 for a weekend pass (i.e., all 10 games).
 
For fans attending the MAWPC Championship, tickets are available at the door to the pool on the day(s) of the championship. Tickets are $15 per day or $35 for a three-day pass which entitles the bearer entry to all championship games on Friday-Sunday, November 21-23. Fordham students, faculty and staff with a valid college ID, and senior citizens 65 and older, will be admitted at discounted prices of $10 (tournament pass) and $5 (one-day pass). All children 12 and under are free of charge.

All-Conference
The MAWPC announced its 2025 All-Conference teams and Navy water polo was well represented, placing five members on the teams. Kiefer Black led the way for the Mids, claiming first-team distinction for the third consecutive season. Quinn Bartlett and Ryan Munch were named to the second team, while Aiden Day and Orion Erwin rounded out the Midshipmen selections as honorable mention picks.
 
Black became the seventh player in program history to earn First Team All-Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (formerly All-CWPC) three times, joining Lawrence Kough (1983, '84, '85), Tom Popp (1986, '87, '88), Luis Nicolao (1989, '90, '91), Alex Ratcliffe (2003, '04, '05), Kyle Wertz (2009, '10, '11), and Isaac Salinas (2019, '20, '21). Additionally, Black is the second Midshipmen under Nicolao to be named First Team All-MAWPC three times.
 
With his selection, Black becomes a three-time First Team All-MAWPC selection. The junior leads the team with 124 points on a team-high 66 goals with a team-best 58 assists. Additionally, Black leads all position players on Navy with 28 steals, while ranking third on the squad in ejections drawn.
 
Munch, who was the 2024 MAWPC Rookie of the Tournament, claimed Second Team All-MAWPC honors for the first time in his young career. The sophomore leads the team with 137 saves, while also notching a team-high 29 steals.
 
Bartlett earned his first all-conference honor, being selected to the second team. He is third on the team with 55 points, 31 goals, and 24 assists.
 
Day earned All-MAWPC honors for the second time in his career being named honorable mention as a junior after being tabbed second team as a freshman. The attacker is second on the team with 70 points on a balanced 38 goals with 32 assists.
 
For the second consecutive season, Erwin earned all-conference distinction. A Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference selection in 2024, the sophomore was named honorable mention in 2025. He is fifth on the team with 34 points on 20 goals and 14 assists. Additionally, Erwin has added 18 ejections drawn and 11 steals.
 
Scouting the Midshipmen
Navy enters the weekend 20-8 overall. After recording a 10-2 mark in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference, the Midshipmen have secured the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
 
Kiefer Black leads the team with 124 points on a team-high 66 goals and team-best 58 assists. He is followed by Aiden Day, Quinn Bartlett, and James Mulvey who have 70, 55, and 52 points, respectively. Day has 38 goals and 32 assists, while Bartlett has 31 goals and 24 assists. James Mulvey has a balanced 28 goals and 24 assists for his 52 points, Aiden Berry, Orion Erwin, and Luka Sekulic are tied for fifth on the team with 34 points apiece. Berry has 34 points on 23 goals and 11 assists, while Sekulic has one more goal (24) and one less assist (10) for his 34 points. Erwin has 20 goals to go along with 14 assists for his 34 points. Rory Begin, Connor Cashman, and Matt Mai-Prasarnsuk close out Navy's 30-point scorers. Begin (17g 16a) has 33 points, while Cashman (21g 10a) and Mai-Prasarnsuk (17g 14a) have 31 points each.
 
Defensively, Navy has used three goalkeepers – Ryan Munch, Jack Rodoni, and Jack Hightower – through the season. Munch leads the team with 137 saves, while Rodoni and Hightower follow with 74 and 51 stops, respectively.
 
Munch leads the team with 29 steals with Black, Berry, and Jack Mason following with 28, 24, and 24, respectively. Hightower rounds out the top five in takeaways with 21. Jack Reif and Maddox Garrahy lead the team with 39 and 37 ejections drawn, correspondingly. Black follows with 33 with Billy Zech and Holden Seybold closing out the top five with 31 and 30, individually.
