ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team split a doubleheader Sunday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.  The Mids (10-6) first registered a 6-1 victory over Richmond (3-5) and then lost a 5-2 match to Georgetown (4-6).

Navy won the doubles point against Richmond with wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 flights.  Herrick Legaspi and Charlie Spencer posted a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles to tie the proceedings at one match each.  The No. 2 tandem of Aniketh Ayinala and Jason Kim then combined for a 7-6 (7-2) victory against Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner to give the Mids the 1-0 lead.

Richmond evened the score at 1-1 with a win at No. 6 singles, but the Mids recorded straight set victories at Nos. 2 (Nathan Nguyen) and 3 (Ayinala) singles to take a 3-1 lead.  Spencer secured the match with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 flight against Otto Sewell.

Legaspi and Tommy Kim followed with three-set victories.

The Hoyas won each of the three doubles matches to gain an early lead on the Mids.  Georgetown soon took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 6 singles, but Navy tied the match at 2-2 when Jason Kim won his No. 4 singles match and Tommy Kim followed with a victory at No. 5 singles.  The Hoyas would win the remaining three flights, including three-set wins in two of the matches.

Navy will play a split squad doubleheader on March 2 as it will play host to Delaware and open its Patriot League slate at Colgate.
