ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's team won the program's 11th-straight ECAC Swimming and Diving Championship while the women's team recorded a second-place finish at the meet that concluded Sunday at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis.
The men's team totaled 850 points to win the meet by nearly 400 points. Â The women's team tallied 616 points to finish in second place, 31 points in back of first-place Bucknell.
Navy's
Tyler Kaminski was selected as the ECAC Men's Swimmer of the Year and
Bill Roberts was named the ECAC Coach of the Year.
Kaminski won a pair of events on Sunday, winning the 200 back (1:44.07) and 200 fly (1:46.30) finals. Â Also winning individual events on the day for the Mids were
James Lyon in the 1650 free (15:28.61),
Evan McKelvey in the 100 free (44.07) and
Noah Robinson in the 200 breast (1:56.72).
The meet closed with Navy's team of
Austin Lockhart,
Conor Cranfield,
Cohen Bruner and
Natanas Gaver winning the 400 free relay (2:57.28)
"The team was terrific from start to finish this weekend," said Roberts. Â "We are extremely proud of the way they represented our program and Navy at the meet. Â There were many standout performances, all of which were a reflection of their dedication and commitment all season long."
The Navy women's team saw
Allie Maloney and
Maddie Koutavas earn silver medals on Sunday. Â Maloney posted a time of 2:00.42 to finish second in the 200 back and Koutavas recorded an effort of 2:15.30 to place second in the 200 fly.
Additionally, the 400 free relay team of
Viviana Vergara-Anglim, Valentina Fraga,
Phoebe Yoder and
Megan Murphy earned a podium spot with a third-place time of 3:28.19.
