Navy Places Three on Men’s Lacrosse All-Patriot League Teams

BETHLEHEM, Pa. —  Three members of the Navy men's lacrosse team were named to the 2025 All-Patriot League Teams announced Monday afternoon, including a pair of first-time recipients. AJ Marsh (So / D / Reisterstown, Md.) garnered first-team accolades, while Sean Gallagher (Jr / LSM / Garnet Valley, Pa.) and Jack Ponzio (Fr / M / Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) were named to the second team.

First-Team All-Patriot League
AJ Marsh - So | D | Reisterstown, Md. | McDonogh School
After garnering Second-Team All-Patriot League recognition as a freshman long-stick midfielder, Marsh returned to his natural position down low and was a force to be reckoned with throughout the season. Typically assigned to the opposing team's most lethal offensive weapon, Marsh has flourished in his role on a Navy defense that is holding its opponents to 10.71 goals per game. He was named to the USILA National Team of the Week following his performance against Lafayette where he held First-Team All-Patriot League attackman Riley Sullivan, who was the nation's #2 point producer (6.67) and #1 assist distributor (3.89) at the time, to just ONE point (G) in the contest. Active on the ball, Marsh has produced 13 caused turnovers this spring and needs just 2 more to join Navy's top-20 single-season caused turnovers leader board.

In addition to his defensive efforts, he's one of the most dynamic players in the country in the transition game. Marsh has produced 9 points on 5 goals and 4 assists this spring. In just 2 seasons, he has recorded 14-career points (7G, 7A), the third-most points by a Navy pole, while his 5 goals are tied as the fourth most.

Second-Team All-Patriot League
Sean Gallagher - Jr | LSM | Garnet Valley, Pa. | Garnet Valley

A first-time recipient of postseason honors from the Patriot League, Gallagher has been a steady piece among Navy's rope unit this year. Along with Jacob Darrow (Sr / D / Millersville, Md.), Gallagher leads the team in caused turnovers with 14 and with 22 takeaways for his career, he stands 20th on the Mids' all-time caused turnovers list. He needs just 1 more to add his name to Navy's single-season top-20 leader board. Gallagher also plays a crucial role as a wing player on the Mids' faceoff unit, where he has picked up a team-best 47 ground balls.

Gallagher has also played a part in the Mids' transition game where he has scored 3 goals and added an assist for the Mids this season.

Jack Ponzio - Fr | M | Ronkonkoma, N.Y. | St. Anthony's
Ponzio, a Second-Team All-Patriot League selection, is just the sixth Navy freshman to earn All-Patriot League recognition and only the program's second freshman offensive player to be named all-league (2007, Basil Daratsos, M / 2014, Brady Dove, FO / 2021, Jackson Bonitz, D / 2024, Zach Hayashi, FO / 2024, AJ Marsh, LSM). He has consistently been named among Inside Lacrosse's Top Impact Freshmen over the course of the season, as he stands second on the team in scoring with 31 points on 18 goals and 13 assists. Last Friday evening, his 4-point performance against Bucknell enabled him to become the second freshman this year and just the 17th freshman in program history to reach the 30-point milestone. Ponzio and William Goers (Fr / A/M / Chester, Md.) are just the third freshman tandem in school history to reach the 30-point mark, joining Paul Basile and Tom Hanzsche in 1986 and Tucker Hull and Sam Jones in 2011.

Ponzio has produced points in 12 of the 14 games this spring, including 9 multiple-point games and 6 multiple-assist contests. He etched his name into the record books with his 5-goal performance against Lehigh, marking the most goals by a Navy rookie since Jack Ray scored 5 at Air Force on May 2, 2015.

The 2025 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Tournament kicks off tomorrow night with quarterfinal contests featuring Colgate at Lehigh (7:00 pm / ESPN+) and Navy at Lafayette (7:30 pm / ESPN+ / 1430 AM WNAV). Top-seeded Army will play host to the Patriot League Semifinals (Friday / 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm) and Championship Game (Sunday / 11:30 am) which will be televised live by CBS Sports Network.
