ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 21 Navy women's lacrosse team (13-5) continues play in the 2025 Patriot League Tournament on Thursday evening as the Midshipmen take on No. 19 Army (13-2) in the semifinals at 7:00 p.m. at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md. The game will be broadcast on
ESPN+ and
live stats will be available. Additionally, the game will be aired on

Patriot League Tournament
Navy is making its 17th appearance in the Patriot League Tournament. The Midshipmen have qualified for the conference tournament each season since joining the Patriot League in 2008. The Mids are 22-10 (.688) in the tournament all-time with six conference titles.
Navy is 12-3 (.800) all-time in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals, winning seven of its last eight appearances in the semis. Navy played in 15 semifinal games, advancing to the final 12 times.
The winner of No. 3 seed Navy and No. 2 seed Army advances to the championship game against the winner of No. 1 seed Loyola (12-5) and No. 4 seed Holy Cross (10-7). Navy is 6-6 (.500) all-time in Patriot League championship games.
Navy is 9-7 (.563) all-time in the Patriot League Tournament at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore.
All-Patriot League
Six members of the Navy women's lacrosse team were named to the 2025 All-Patriot League Team announced Monday, April 28 by the conference office. The Midshipmen tallied four first-team selections –
Alyssa Chung (attack),
Emily Messinese (attack),
Mikayla Williams (midfield), and
Alyssa Daley (defense) – while also claiming a pair of second-team honors –
Tori DiCarlo (attack) and
Ava Yovino (midfield). Additionally, Chung was selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
It is the fourth consecutive season that Navy has had four first-team all-conference selections, while Chung becomes the second consecutive Midshipmen to earn Rookie of the Year accolades and the fourth in program history, joining Loren Generi ('15) in 2012, Kelly Larkin ('20) in 2017, and Williams last season.
Overall, 34 student-athletes made the two All-Patriot League squads, with 18 claiming first-team accolades and another 16 receiving a spot on the second team.
All 10 Patriot League teams were represented on the all-conference list. Loyola placed a League-high seven athletes on the two teams, including five first-team honorees. Navy finished second with six selections, including four on the first team. Army had five players recognized, with three first-team selections. Colgate and Holy Cross had four selections apiece, with Boston University, Bucknell and Lehigh earning two spots on the two teams. American and Lafayette both had one representative.
Academic All-Patriot League
A pair of Midshipmen student-athletes were selected to the 2025 Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Patriot League Team on Wednesday, April 30, as announced by the conference office.
Tori DiCarlo led the duo of academic achievers as the 2025 Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition to DiCarlo's top honor,
Grace Peterson was also selected to the 13-member academic squad.
It is the second consecutive Scholar-Athlete of the Year selection for DiCarlo. Last season, she became the first Midshipmen since Mary Ruttum ('10), who earned the honor as a senior in 2010, to claim the League's top academic honor. It is the third time in program history that a Midshipmen has been named Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Mids have had at least one player selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team each season since 2011.
All-Time Series
The game marks the 13th meeting between the two teams and the fourth time the two teams will meet in the Patriot League Tournament – all in three previous meetings in the semifinals. Navy holds an 8-4 (.667) overall record against Army with a 2-1 (.667) mark in conference tournament.
Navy opened the all-time series with six straight victories, including claiming the first three Star Games (2018, '19, '21). Army had won three of four meetings, including back-to-back Star competitions (2022, '23), prior to the Midshipmen's 17-11 victory last season. Earlier this season, the Black Knights claimed a 17-12 win in West Point to earn the 2025 Star.
The all-time series began in 2016 with the Midshipmen claiming an 11-5 win in West Point. The following year, Navy posted a 22-7 victory in Annapolis.
The first Star Game came in 2018 with the Mids recording a 20-7 win over the Black Knights in West Point. The following year, Navy earned a Star victory at home with a 21-8 win at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Later in 2019, the two teams met again in the Patriot League Tournament with Navy notching a 20-10 win in the semifinals to advance to the conference title game.
In 2021, Navy had a three-week ROM (restriction of movement) due to the COVID-19 pandemic with no games or practice prior to taking on Army. Despite a slow start, the Mids rallied for the final three goals of the game to post a 13-12 victory in West Point.
Army claimed its first Star in the series in 2022, posting a 14-9 win over Navy in Annapolis. The Midshipmen were able to avenge the loss with a 16-6 win later that season in the Patriot League Tournament in Baltimore.
The two teams met twice during the 2023 season with the Black Knights winning each contest. Army earned a 15-11 Star win in West Point. The two teams once again met in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. Navy was edged 12-11 in double overtime to Army. The game was the first overtime contest between the two teams and it was the second multi-overtime game in Patriot League Tournament history.
Behind a total team effort, the Midshipmen defeated the Black Knights, 17-11, in Annapolis in the 2024 Star Game. The Mids used timely scoring, solid defense, and domination in the draw circle to earn their first Star since 2021.
In 2025, Army used a 7-0 run to open the game and ultimately posted a 17-12 victory over Navy in West Point in the annual Star Game.
Scouting the Midshipmen
Navy began the Patriot League Tournament with a 19-2 victory over sixth-seeded Lehigh on Sunday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Ten different Midshipmen found the back of the net and the defense held the Mountain Hawks scoreless in the second half as the Mids cruised into the semifinals. With the win, the Midshipmen improved to 13-5 overall.
As a team, the Midshipmen have tallied 288 goals with 119 assists, while picking up 294 ground balls, winning 324 draw controls, and causing 139 turnovers.
Entering the weekend,
Alyssa Chung and
Emily Messinese lead the team with 73 and 64 points, respectively. Chung has a team-high 59 goals with 14 assists, while Messinese has 41 goals and a team-best 23 helpers.
Chung has recorded 15 multi-goal performances in her young career (18 games total), including 13 hat tricks. In Patriot League games, Chung led Navy with 49 points (5.44 per game) on a team-best 39 goals (4.33), while adding 10 assists (1.11). She recorded multiple goals in all nine conference games this season with eight hat tricks. For her efforts, Chung was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week six (6) consecutive times and a conference-record seven times total.
With eight hat tricks this season this season, Messinese has 32 career hat tricks (61 games played), which is seventh-most in program history. In total, Messinese has scored at least one goal in 58 games (.951) with multiple scores in 45 games (.738).
Mikayla Williams follows with 56 points. The sophomore is second on the team with 43 goals and 13 assists.
Tori DiCarlo and
Emma Kennedy are fourth and fifth with 43 and 40 points, respectively. Kennedy has 34 goals and nine assists this season, while DiCarlo has 28 goals and 12 helpers for 40 points to round out Navy's top five scorers.
Taylor Miles,
Ava Yovino,
Maggie DeFabio, and
Lola Leone close out Navy's double-digit scorers. Miles has a balanced 17 goals and 17 helpers for 34 points, while Yovino has 17 goals to go along with 12 assists for 29 points. DeFabio is one point back with 18 goals and 10 assists for 28 total points. Leone adds 10 points on eight goals and a pair of assists.
Eleven (11) additional Midshipmen have registered points during the season.
Maura Murphy and
Kat McAteer have five points apiece. Murphy has five points on five scores, while McAteer has five points on four goals and an assist.
Caroline Gage and
Anna Gotterup have four points each with Gage netting four goals and Gotterup chipping in three goals and an assist.
Chloe Brown and
Bella Paradiso follow with three points each. Brown has three goals for her three points with Paradiso notching a goal and a couple of assists.
Lizzie Kelley and
Natalie O'Neill have a point on a goal scored each, while
Alyssa Daley,
Reagan Hart, and
Grace Peterson close out Navy's point scorers with one point on an assist apiece.
Defensively, Navy has caused 139 of its opponents 258 turnovers (53.9 percent), including 69 unsuccessful clear attempts.
Jaclyn Johns leads the team with 18 caused turnovers, while DeFabio follows with 16 takeaways.
Felicia Giglio has recorded 15 caused turnovers with Yovino, Peterson, and Chung notching 14, 11, and 10 takeaways, respectively, to round out Navy's double-digit caused turnovers.
Giglio leads the team with 41 ground balls with Yovino following with 35 and DeFabio picking up 28. Messinese and Peterson have 21 apiece for Navy's top-five in the category. Williams has 18, while Johns follows with 17 GB. Chung (15), Gage (13),
Jalin Jenkins (12), Miles (10), and
Landen Cain (10) round out the Mids' double-digit ground balls.
Giglio has notched 118 saves in 985:25 minutes of action in 18 games played. The 118 saves surpassed her season total of 102 from a year ago during the 19-game season. The sophomore goalkeeper has six double-digit save performances, including four against ranked opponents.
Emma Richardell has logged 99:30 minutes of action in 11 games with 12 saves and a 57.1 save percentage.
Daley leads the team with a single-season school record 201 draw controls, topping the previous record of 191 she set last season. The senior has 478 career draws and is 15 back of matching Navy and Patriot League career leader Loren Generi ('15), who finished her Midshipmen career with 493.
Messinese has chipped in 43 draw controls while Williams has won 40 draws.
Scouting the Opposition
Army enters the tournament 13-2 overall. The Black Knights went 8-1 in the Patriot League to secure the No. 2 seed in the 2025 Patriot League Tournament and a first-round bye.
The Black Knights are led by Allison Reilly and Brigid Duffy. The duo both boast 80-plus points on the year with Reilly leading the squad with 93 points on 55 goals and a team-high 38 assists, while Duffy has a team-best 61 goals to go along with 22 helpers.
In addition to leading the team in goals, Duffy paces Army with 44 ground balls, 93 draw controls, and 31 caused turnovers. Sarah Chernik follows Duffy with 63 draw controls, while Meghan Pedrani and Haley Kampert are tied for second on the team with 22 ground balls apiece. Pedrani is second on the squad with 19 caused turnovers.
Lindsey Serafine has logged a majority of minutes between the posts at goal for Army. She has 113 saves with 129 goals allowed for a 46.7 save percentage and a 9.40 goals against average in nearly 823:35 minutes of action.
Army had five players recognized as All-Patriot League, with three first-team selections. Reilly (attack), Duffy (midfield), and Pedrani (defense) were all named first team, while Chernik (defense) and Serafine (goalie) claimed second-team honors.
National Rankings
The Navy women's lacrosse team is currently ranked in two of the three national polls. The Midshipmen are #21 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll rankings this week, while coming in at #22 in the Inside Lacrosse Media poll. Additionally, the Mids are receiving votes according to USA Lacrosse.
In its history, Navy has been ranked 105 total weeks, including a stretch of 46 weeks from the final poll of 2017 (May 30) to April 5, 2021. The Mids' first appearance in the national rankings came on March 11, 2013, coming in at #20. The Midshipmen's highest ranking – sixth – came in the final polls of the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Last season, the Midshipmen were in the top 25 poll for seven weeks, rising as high as #17 and finishing the season 20th.
Loyola and Army, who are the top two seeds in the Patriot League Tournament, are also ranked this week. The Greyhounds are ranked #15 according to IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse, while coming in #16 by USA Lacrosse. The Black Knights are 19th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and #18 according to both Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse.
