BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Navy men's tennis player
Luke Garner has been selected as this week's Patriot League Player of the Week, the league office has announced.
Garner posted a 3-0-1 record last week in helping the Mids to a pair of Patriot League victories.
He first won both of his matches in Navy's 4-2 win at Bucknell. Garner teamed with Jake Yong for a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles and then recorded the match-clinching fourth team point with his 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 3 singles.
Navy next won a 4-0 match at Holy Cross. The team of Garner and Young trailed its No. 1 doubles match, 5-4, when play was halted due to the Mids securing the doubles point. Garner went on to post a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 3 singles flight.
This is the second time the Navy senior team captain has been named the league's player of the week (March 28, 2023). He joins
Herrick Legaspi (March 11) as Mids who have won the accolade this season.
Navy will close its regular season Saturday with the annual Star Match at Army. First serve for the match being played at West Point is 1 p.m.
