Navy men's golf coach
Jimmy Stobs announced on Tuesday that rising senior
Jack Tarzy (Medford, N.J.) has been selected by his teammates to serve as team captain for the 2025-26 academic year. Tarzy will take leadership of one of the more experienced Navy golf programs in recent memory with eight returning players (3 seniors, 2 juniors, 3 sophomores), including five of the six golfers who represented the Mids in the Patriot League Tournament to close out the season.
"Jack will be an outstanding captain of a team made up of eight returners and six incoming freshmen with high expectations," said Stobs. "He has very good leadership skills as demonstrated by the positions he has earned on the Yard."
A three-year letter winner, Tarzy has competed in 26 tournaments over his career and owns a 74.12 stroke average. He has finished among the top 10 in four tournaments, including three this past season. As a sophomore, he earned First-Team All-Patriot League honors after placing second (+3 / 219) at the 2024 Patriot League Tournament. Last year, he tied for sixth (-2 / 142) to help lead the Mids to the team title at the season-opening Alex Lagowitz Memorial. He went on to finish second in back-to-back tournaments in the fall with a 2-under 211 at The Goat and a 9-under par 135 at the Commander-In-Chief's Cup. Additionally, Tarzy represented Navy at the annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup where he placed 29th with a 14-over par 224 at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. He closed out the year with a 73.81 stroke average, the second lowest on the team.
Also a standout in the classroom, Tarzy owns a 3.16 grade-point average as a quantitative economics major. He has earned recognition on the Commandant's (3x) and Dean's Lists (1x) in his six semesters studying at the Academy and is coming off his best semester academically where he turned in a 3.63 GPA.
