Luke Lombardo Selected as 2026-27 Navy Men’s Golf Captain

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy men's golf coach Jimmy Stobs announced on Thursday that rising senior Luke Lombardo (Severna Park, Md.) has been selected by his teammates to serve as team captain for the 2026-27 academic year. Lombardo will assume leadership of a Navy program that claimed the 2026 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship and earned its 13th trip to the NCAA Championship when it competed in the NCAA Winston-Salem Regional in May.

A three-year letter winner, Lombardo has competed in eight tournaments over his career and owns a 78.48 stroke average. His best finish to date was a 33rd-place showing at the Veterans Intercollegiate his freshman year where he shot a 13-over par 157, while his best tournament in relation to par was a 12-over par 225 at The Goat in 2024-25 where he placed 41st.

Last spring he not only defeated Army's Matthew Duke on the 18th green in singles play in the annual Army-Navy Star Match, his victory secured the winning point to lead the Mids to a 6-5 win and the Star. It was Navy's first men's golf Star victory against the Black Knights since 2021. Additionally, it was the first Star win for Naval Academy Director of Athletics Michael Kelly and Superintendent Lt. Gen. Michael J. Borgschulte who were in attendance.

Also a standout in the classroom, Lombardo owns a 3.05 grade-point average as a quantitative economics major. He has earned recognition on the Commandant's (3x) and Dean's Lists (1x) in his six semesters studying at the Academy.
