ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's basketball program under the direction of sixth-year head coach
Tim Taylor is pleased to introduce a talented group of five freshmen, who will be joining the team for this upcoming 2025-26 season. The Class of 2029 consists of five recruited student-athletes from throughout the country. Over the next week, each recruit will be profiled beginning today with Sidney Quinn from Verona, New Jersey.
A long, skillful scorer, Quinn finished her career at Gill St. Bernard's School with a Somerset County Championship for Knights in 2024-25. Since breaking through as a sophomore in 2022-23 when she was named to the All-Skyland Conference-Delaware Division Second Team, Quinn continued to move up the ranks as she earned first team all-conference nods after each of her junior and senior seasons under the guidance of head coach Mark Gnapp. Following a standout 2024-25 campaign that saw Quinn and the Knights go 23-5 and earn the program's first county title in 11 years, she was chosen to the All-NJBCA Team and participated in the annual NJBCA North/South All-Star Game with the North squad.
Accomplished outside of high school action, Quinn's been able to showcase her skills on the international scene with the Republic of Ireland National Girls' Basketball U-16 and U-18 Team for competitions in 2023 and 2024. As part of the 2024 U-18 European Championships, Quinn appeared in seven games and averaged 8.7 points with a single-game high of 15 versus Ukraine in game seven.
Additionally, she played on the HGSL club circuit with the New Jersey Shoreshots for coach Tracey Sabino. Fellow Navy freshman Christina Liggio joined her with the Shoreshots.
Quinn comes from an athletic family as her mother Jennifer played collegiately at Colgate ('94-'98), while her father Kieran suited up internationally with Ireland and stateside at Post University ('96-'00). Additionally, her younger brother Kieran has competed with Ireland's U-16 and U-18 national teams.
Away from the court, Quinn competed at Gill St. Bernard's in lacrosse and volleyball. Following her 2023 lacrosse season, she earned All-Skyland Conference-Delaware Division accolades as a sophomore.
"We are excited to add Sidney to our program as she is an extremely versatile player who can play multiple positions," remarked Taylor. "At 6'3, she can stretch the floor with her ability to hit 3's and can go inside to post up smaller defenders. Sid is also a high-level passer who sees the floor so well and makes all of her teammates better. I love her toughness and willingness to do all the little things that impact winning. Sidney has played on high-level travel teams on the EYBL and Select Circuits and helped lead Gill St. Bernard to the New Jersey State Final Four last year. She has also competed with the Irish National team in International competitions the past few years. All of these basketball experiences will allow Sidney to pick up collegiate concepts quickly and to be able to make an impact in our program on and off the floor."
