Navy Women’s Basketball Announces Freshmen Recruiting Class: Zoe Mesuch

Mids welcome five recruited freshmen to the program

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's basketball program under the direction of sixth-year head coach Tim Taylor is pleased to introduce a talented group of five freshmen, who will be joining the team for this upcoming 2025-26 season. The Class of 2029 consists of five recruited student-athletes from throughout the country. Over this week, each recruit will be profiled with the second being Zoe Mesuch from Clintondale, New York.

An explosive scorer, Mesuch tallied a school-record 2,174 career points as a dynamic playmaker for Wallkill High School and head coach A.J. Higby. A decorated and successful player throughout her time playing with the Panthers, she put her league, the Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL), and section immediately on notice as the Section IX Class A Player of the Year as a freshman in 2022 and again in 2023. That notoriety crossed over onto the state level as Mesuch was named to the 2022 NYSSWA All-State Third Team. Continuing to thrive on the hardwood, she advanced to the NYSSWA All-State First Team in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Additional accolades for the Mesuch, who averaged 27.3 points per game as a senior include, Section IX Class AA Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025, three-time Daily Freeman Area Player of the Year and a nomination for McDonald's All-America status as a senior.

Mesuch helped led Wallkill to three Section IX Championship (2022-24) and two MHAL Championship (2022-23) during her time with the Panthers.

On the club scene, Mesuch joined forces with head coach Matt Oswalt in action with Team Northeast.

Away from school and club action, the daughter of Michael and Sarah, honed her skills growing up in basketball family as her mother played collegiately at Elmira College, her older sister Lexie served as a team manager at Canisius and later Eastern Michigan University and her grandfather built a basketball court in the family barn.

"We are thrilled to add a player of Zoe's caliber to our program," exclaimed Taylor. "She is a dynamic, creative guard who is one of the best scorers and shooters in the entire '25 class. She scored over 2,000 points at Wallkill High School and put up great numbers playing for Team Northeast on the Power24 travel ball circuit. Zoe can score at all three levels and she makes shots in bunches. When she gets rolling it is fun to watch.

"The first thing that caught my eye though was her fearlessness in attacking the rim and her ability to hang and finish shots against bigger defenders. Though what really separates her is her shooting range. Our fans will love her logo three-pointers and her ability to truly stretch the floor. Opposing teams will have to account for her at all times when she is on the court.  Plus, Zoe loves the game and you can see it in the way she plays and competes on both ends of the floor. I am excited to watch her growth and development in  our program."
