ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's basketball program under the direction of sixth-year head coach
Tim Taylor is pleased to introduce a talented group of five freshmen, who will be joining the team for this upcoming 2025-26 season. The Class of 2029 consists of five recruited student-athletes from throughout the country. Over this week, each recruit will be profiled with the final being Grace Minihane from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A winner on every level, Minihane joins the Navy program after leading the Colorado Springs Christian School to back-to-back Colorado Class 3A State Championships after averaging 20-plus points in each of those two campaigns in 2023 and 2024. In that second championship victory, she was named the 2024 Championship MVP for scoring 22 points and helping CSCS complete the season with a perfect 27-0 record. Minihane was rightfully recognized for her individual success as she was honored with spots on Colorado's Class 3A All-State First Team in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Additionally, the team's captain in 2023-24, was noted as the Tri-Peaks Conference Player of the Year and on the All-Area First Team in both of those seasons. A 1,000-point scorer, she played for Mark Engesser at CSCS.
Following four years of success in Colorado, Minihane travelled across the country and prepped at Northfield Mount Hermon in Massachusetts during the 2024-25 academic year. She continued to thrive as she was named to the All-NEPSAC and a Class AA All-Star, while serving as her team's captain. Northfield Mount Hermon and Minihane reached the 2024-25 NEPSAC AA Championship.
She refined her skills on the club circuit with the Bay State Jaguars and head coach Laurie Bolin.
Away from the hardwood, Minihane lettered in tennis at CSC and in track & field at NMH. Of note, her coach at NMH was Tabatha Collins, a USNA alum. CSC's Class President during her senior year, she graduated as the school's salutatorian in 2024.
Both of her parents, Neil and Bridget were multi-sport athletes at the United States Military Academy as her father suited up with Army's ice hockey and men's lacrosse teams (1986-90), while her mother competed in track & field (1986-90), in addition to women's basketball ('86-89) and indoor track (1990).
"We're definitely excited to add an explosive and versatile athlete like Grace to our team," remarked Taylor. "I love how she can affect the game at both ends of the floor and play multiple positions. Grace attacks the rim hard and can finish through contact. I love how hard she plays and competes and that along with her length will make her dangerous on both sides of the ball for us.
"As I watched Grace I was impressed with her determination and commitment to improving, she continued to get better every year and I know that will continue here. I get excited about watching her development because she has such a high-ceiling in my opinion. She scored over 1,600 points in high school and led Colorado Springs Christian High School to back-to-back State Championships and also played for one of the top travel teams on the Select Events Circuit in the Bay State Jaguars organization."
