ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy head baseball coach
Chuck Ristano rounded out his staff additions on Tuesday, hiring Chris Bosco as an assistant coach.
Bosco joins the Midshipmen after spending five of the last six seasons on the Northeastern coaching staff, helping guide the Huskies to a pair of NCAA Tournament berths while mentoring Northeastern hitters to seven All-America selections and three CAA Player of the Year awards.
"I am extremely grateful to Coach Ristano for the opportunity to join an outstanding coaching staff at such a remarkable institution," said Bosco. "Through the process of learning about Navy, I realized that my values and goals align seamlessly with those of the baseball program, the NAAA and the Naval Academy as a whole. It is a privilege to contribute to the development of our nation's future leaders and to work alongside them in pursuit of Patriot League titles. I am eager to join the Annapolis community and witness firsthand the extraordinary achievements of our Midshipmen, both on and off the field. Go Navy! Beat Army!"
"I am thrilled to add someone of Chris' energy, accomplishments and character to our coaching staff," said Ristano. "He has been mentored by some of the best coaches in college baseball and comes highly recommended from peers at both the college and professional levels. He brings a passion and enthusiasm for player development that will immediately impact our program. It was important for me to bring on a proven winner with postseason experience who has an understanding and ability to teach an aggressive style of play that I think will best suit our team in the years to come. Chris checks all of these boxes and his positive attitude and investment in the totality of the Naval Academy experience make him an ideal fit for our program as we continue to build. We are all looking forward to the fall and the first opportunity to get our guys back on the field."
Serving as an assistant coach on the Northeastern staff the last two seasons, Bosco was instrumental to the program's continued rise to national prominence. Working with the team's offense and catchers, Bosco was a guiding force in the Huskies' base-running efforts that saw them finish second nationally in stolen bases back-to-back seasons and aided in the team pulling off a nation's longest winning streak (27 games) in 2025.
A big part of Northeastern capturing both the CAA regular-season and tournament titles in 2025, Bosco's rigorous work with the team's base-running strategies helped the Huskies steal a program-record 196 bases, as Cam Maldonado set a new program record with 87 career steals and Harrison Feinberg tied the program single-season record by swiping 37 bags. Among the four All-CAA position players on Northeastern, Feinberg was selected as the 2025 CAA Player of the Year while Maldonado developed into one of the top prospects in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Upon Bosco's return to the staff in 2024, the Northeastern offense reached new heights by setting 14 offensive program records, including the most runs (474) and steals (163) in a season. The Huskies led the conference in several offensive categories at the end of the regular season, holding the 24th-best batting average (.310) and seventh-highest on-base percentage (.427) in the country. Individually, Bosco directly mentored catcher Gregory Bozzo into an All-CAA Second Team honoree, while CAA Player of the Year Tyler MacGregor and Cincinnati Reds third-round draftee Mike Sirota also highlighted the five All-CAA nods by Huskie position players.
In total, Northeastern's offense under Bosco and now-Brown head coach Frank Holbrook set 17 single-season program records across their two years as a tandem (2024 and 2025).
Briefly departing Northeastern, Bosco took a full-time assistant position with Dartmouth for the 2023 season, where he coached two All-Ivy League honorable mention hitters with the Big Green.
During his first tenure at Northeastern, serving as a volunteer assistant from 2020-22, Bosco was responsible for managing the Huskies' outfielders and hitters. His outfielders saw great success during the 2021 CAA Championship run, as Jared Dupere was named CAA Player of the Year and an ABCA/Rawlings All-East First Teamer en route to being drafted by the San Francisco Giants, while fellow outfielder Ben Malgeri was picked by the Detroit Tigers.
Bosco was a three-time all-conference selection and two-time team captain at Roger Williams University, highlighted by a 2019 season that saw him garner Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year recognition and All-CCC First Team honors. The backstop was also chosen to the 2017 ABCA/Rawlings New England All-Region Team and twice led the nation in runners caught stealing percentage.
Following his collegiate career, Bosco played professionally with the Ottawa Champions in the independent CanAm League in 2019 before finishing that season with the Santa Fe Fuego of the Pecos League.
The North Andover, Mass., native earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Roger Williams University in 2019.
