Anchored by No. 1 player Winston Tang's (So / Villanova, Pa.) 4-0 record, the 15th-ranked Navy squash team (17-2) split its four matches to open the second half of the season this past weekend. The Mids played four matches over the course of four days in three different states. Navy opened action on Thursday, sweeping #33 Vassar (2-8) 9-0 to officially break the school record for the best start to a season at 16-0. The Mids extended their winning streak a day later with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over #17 Middlebury (2-3) and snapping a five-match skid against the Panthers. Navy was tripped up for the first time this season when #14 Amherst (3-0) narrowly defeated the Mids 5-4 on Saturday before Navy again fell short to #12 Williams (3-3) 8-1 in Sunday's finale.
The school record for the best start to a season was previously held by the 2012-13 squad who opened its year 15-0 en route to a 25-9 final record. The 2025-26 squad tied that record with its 7-2 win over #19 Rochester prior to the holiday break, setting up the opportunity this past Thursday to take sole possession of the record.
Weekend Highlights
• Fourteen different players saw action on the nine-man ladder over the four-day road trip with five of the 14 earning at least two wins.
• Tang continued his dominance as Navy's top player, not only improving to 16-0 on the year, but extending his personal winning streak to 21 in a row dating back to last season. Tang closed out 2024-25 by winning his final five matches and is 16-0 this season. He stands 40-4 in just his second year at the Academy.
• Tang won three of his four matches by 3-0 marks this past week, however, Williams' Nick Agger pushed Tang to five games in Sunday's finale. After winning the opening game 11-4, Tang lost two in a row and was forced to rally with 11-7 and 11-9 wins in the fourth and fifth games, respectively.
•
Christian Graziano (Fr / Greenwich, Conn.),
Alexander Orr (Sr / Haverford, Pa.) and
Ramsay Killinger (Jr / Wyndmoor, Pa.) put together 2-2 marks, while
Johan Hodgson (Fr / Riverside, Conn.) turned in a 2-1 record over the weekend.
• Orr  pushed his season record to 13-2 and 67-37 over his career. He is now tied with Scott Hackman (2002-06) and Bill Kacergis (2012-16) for 15th on the Mids' all-time wins list. Additionally, he is just three wins from becoming only the 13th player in school history to reach the 70-win milestone.
• Killinger, meanwhile, continues to push towards the 50-win mark for his career, as he stands 46-24. He needs four wins to become the 40th player in program history to reach 50 wins.
•
Tighe Mullarkey (Jr / Locust Valley, N.Y.) made his first appearance of the season after dealing with an injury for the last several months. He came up with a 3-0 victory over Vassar's Gabriel Lugo at the No. 6 position, while also playing two exhibition matches.
•
Eli Levy (So / Williamstown, Mass.),
Sean Wu (Jr / Princeton, N.J.) and
Holden Woodward (Jr / Richmond, Va.) also earned the opportunity to play and win against their Vassar opponents in what was their lone match of the weekend.
What's Ahead
• Navy will return home for the first time in nearly two months (Nov. 23) when it plays host to Tufts next Sunday (12:00 pm) at the Prager Family Squash Facility.
