BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Patriot League announced on Friday that the women's basketball game between Lehigh and Navy, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17, has been canceled. Lehigh is forfeiting the contest due to an insufficient number of healthy players available to safely compete.
Navy will be awarded a forfeit win, and Lehigh assessed a loss, which will be reflected appropriately in the League standings only. The NCAA does not recognize forfeits, the game will be recorded as a no contest and will not have an impact on either team's overall record.
Winners of three straight games with an average margin of victory of 27.7 points (86.7 ppg to 59.0), the Mids (10-6, 5-1 PL) will look to keep their momentum going with a road matchup versus the Holy Cross Crusaders next Wednesday, January 21. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Hart Center in Worcester.
Navy's next home game is scheduled for Saturday, January 24 versus Army. The service academy showdown that will be televised by CBS Sports Network gets going at 11 a.m. at Alumni Hall with the men's Army-Navy battle set to follow with a 1 p.m. start.
