Navy Squash Sweeps Haverford on the Road

The 14th-ranked Navy squash team (18-3) earned a 9-0 win over #30 Haverford (2-8) Thursday evening at the GIAC Squash Courts in Haverford, Pa. in what also marked the Mids' 18th victory of the season. It's the most wins by a Navy team under eighth-year head coach Tyler Osborne and the most since the Mids closed out the 2016-17 campaign with a 20-6 record.

Match Highlights
• Navy's lineup remained the same from 1-4, but changed slightly among the remaining five spots.
• Johan Hodgson (Fr / Riverside, Conn.) earned the first win of the evening and dealt Haverford senior Kai Schinaman an 11-3, 11-2, 11-2 loss at #4
• Wenqing Tang (So / Villanova, Pa.) returned to form as the Mids' #1 player where he scored an 11-3, 11-5, 11-7 victory over senior Aaryaman Jaising. Tang is now 18-2 this season, including 18-0 in team competition.
• Michael Tierney Jr. (So / Berwyn, Pa.) scored an 11-6, 11-6, 11-6 win over freshman Advait Chandramouli at #7, while Avinash Uppuluri (So / Short Hills, N.J.) gave the Mids a 4-0 advantage by way of a 3-1 victory over junior Qianzhi Zhao at #6.
• Christian Graziano (Fr / Greenwich, Conn.) and Ramsay Killinger (Jr / Wyndmoor, Pa.) paired up to secure the team win for the Mids with wins at #2 and #8, respectively. Graziano swept sophomore Henry Jiang, while Killinger improved to 48-24 over his career by way of an 11-2, 11-6, 11-4 win over rookie Dean Ibrahim. Killinger is now just two wins shy of becoming the 40th player in program history to reach 50 wins.
• Rounding out the lineup were Eli Levy (So / Williamstown, Mass.) at #9, team captain Alexander Orr (Sr / Haverford, Pa.) at #3, and Andrew Ko (Fr / Sykesville, Md.). With Matthew Kang (Jr / Malvern, Pa.)sitting out the match, Levy was elevated to the #9 position where he captured an 11-4, 11-6, 11-2 win over freshman Nevin Mital to improve to 8-0 on the year. Orr and his foe Ben Levy played a spectacular match that saw the hometown product win in five games over Levy. Ko, meanwhile, pushed up from the #7 position to #5 where he posted an 11-3, 11-8, 11-3 win over fellow newcomer Jet Li.
• Orr now stands 68-38 over his four seasons at Navy and stands alone in 15th on the Mids' all-time wins leader board. He is one win shy of tying Colin Barry (69-29 / 2011-15) and Dylan Sweeney (69-32 / 2015-19) for 13th on the list and two wins shy of becoming only the 13th player in school history to reach the 70-win milestone.
• Navy also saw the return of Hudson Poirier (So / Wellesley, Mass.) who has missed two months due to an injury. Poirier earned a 3-1 victory over junior Francis Betkowski in an exhibition match.
