Sullivan, Brown and Smith Earn Weekly Patriot League Men’s Soccer Honors

Navy Enters Tuesday on Four-Game Unbeaten Streak Against Non-Conference Opponents

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Three members of the Navy men's soccer team earned weekly honors from the Patriot League on Monday afternoon, as juniors Duncan Sullivan and Keane Brown were named the league's Midfielder of the Week and Defender of the Week, respectively, while freshman Will Smith was tabbed as the league's Rookie of the Week.

All three players were crucial in the Midshipmen's 4-3 win over rival Army last Friday in Army-Navy Cup XV, as Sullivan netted a goal and two assists while Brown and Smith both scored in the program's first star victory over the Black Knights since 2021.

Smith started the scoring Friday by notching the first of Navy's four goals when he headed Braedy Strothkamp's cross into the net at 35'. Playing 62 minutes, the rookie generated four shots while tallying his team-leading third goal of the season.

Brown provided one of the biggest highlights of Friday, as he got a back-kick pass from Ryan Skandalis and ripped a highlight-reel strike bar-down in the 54th minute for the Mids' second goal. The goal ended up as the No. 7 play on SportsCenter's Top 10 Saturday morning. Playing the full-90 against Army for the third straight year, Brown's goal also marked the first of his collegiate career.

Also playing the full 90 minutes, Sullivan collected an assist on Brown's goal before giving the Mids another lead when he headed home Nick Gallucci's cross at 70'. Sullivan then got the ball to Wyatt Stevens at 85', who crossed it to Gavin McBride for the game-winner, giving Sullivan his second assist of the night. Sullivan's four points are the most by a Navy player in a game since Andrew Schug against Howard on Sept. 1, 2023, while the four points are also the most by a Mid against Army since Jacob Williams' hat trick (six points) in the 2021 Army-Navy Cup.

This marks the Mids' fourth, fifth and sixth Patriot League weekly awards this fall. It is also the second time Sullivan has earned Midfielder of the Week in his career, while Brown and Smith's weekly honors are the first of their college careers.

Navy returns to action when it travels to William & Mary on Tuesday for its final non-conference contest of the regular season. Match time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Williamsburg, Va.
