Trio of Mids Garner Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy track & field had three student-athletes earn Patriot League weekly honors, the league announced Tuesday. Simon Alexander was named Men's Track Athlete of the Week, Jia Anderson earned Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Jason Keiser was selected Men's Rookie of the Week.

Alexander played a key role in Navy's victory at the Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet, clocking a career-best time of 47.64 to win the 400 meters. He also anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a victory (3:14.46), helping Navy defeat Army for the seventh-straight indoor season.

Anderson highlighted the women's meet, winning three events as Navy secured its 26th-consecutive combined Star victory (men's and women's) across indoor and outdoor seasons over Army. She opened the day by winning the 60-meter hurdles in 8.45, tying the fourth-fastest time in school history. Anderson followed with a time of 7.59 in the 60-meter dash, also tying the fourth-fastest mark in program history. She closed with a season best 24.52 in the 200 meters for her third victory of the day.

Keiser led a Navy sweep in the 60-meter hurdles during the dual meet against Army, posting a winning time of 8.08.

Up next, Navy competes at two meets next weekend, traveling to Boston, Mass., for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and to Lynchburg, Va., for the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Feb. 13-14.
