ANNAPOLIS, Md. – This week's Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete-of-the-Week Award is shared by four Midshipmen. Earning the accolades are
Simon Alexander, men's track and field;
Jia Anderson, women's track and field;
Isabella Baldwin, rifle; and Daniel Gurevich, gymnastics.
The quartet helped Navy to a 4-0 record over the weekend in Star competitions over Army. With the four victories, the Mids hold a 11-4-1 edge over the Black Knights in the overall 2025-26 Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA with 10 Star competitions remaining.
Simon Alexander - Men's Track & Field
Alexander played a key role in Navy's victory at the Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet, clocking a career-best time of 47.64 to win the 400 meters. He also anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a victory (3:14.46), helping Navy defeat Army for the seventh-straight indoor season.
Jia Anderson, Women's Track & Field
Anderson highlighted the women's meet, winning three events as Navy secured its 26th-consecutive combined Star victory (men's and women's) across indoor and outdoor seasons over Army. She opened the day by winning the 60-meter hurdles in 8.45, tying the fourth-fastest time in school history. Anderson followed with a time of 7.59 in the 60-meter dash, also tying the fourth-fastest mark in program history. She closed with a season best 24.52 in the 200 meters for her third victory of the day.
Isabella Baldwin, Rifle
Baldwin led all scorers in Navy's 5904-5839 victory against Army in the annual Star Match, earning the Josh Watson Memorial Trophy for being the Midshipmen's top finisher. It was the second consecutive time the junior claimed the honor. Led by Baldwin, the Midshipmen claimed the top three spots with six Navy shooters finishing in the top 10 in on the day. She paced all shooters with an aggregate score of 1189. The score matched her career-best performance and tied for the fifth-best in program history. The junior started the day with a score of 591 in smallbore, but elevated her aggregate total with a 598 in air rifle. With help from Baldwin's scores, Navy scored 4733 points in the NCAA scoring format. The 4733 was the second-best score in program history. The Mids' NCAA smallbore score of 2354 tied for second-best in the record book, while the air rifle score of 2379 was one point shy of cracking the Mids' top 10 in the discipline.
Daniel Gurevich, Gymnastics
Gurevich was a strong and consistent contributor throughout Saturday's Star Meet versus Army with a team-high 52.2 points scored. He set the tone for the Mids in their eighth straight win over the Black Knights as he led off the Navy's floor exercise rotation with a score of 13.55. Combined with his three other teammates' efforts on the floor exercise, the Mids jumped out to a 5.2-point advantage over the Black Knights and never looked back. Gurevich continued to help the Mids' accumulate points as he added 13.05 on the pommel horse, 13.2 on the vault and 12.4 on the high bar. He placed in the top five of the individual standings for the floor exercise, pommel horse and high bar.
