ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) announced that rifle student-athletes
Isabella Baldwin and
Tyler Wee shared Athlete of the Week accolades for their performances over the weekend, which was highlighted by Baldwin and Wee both shooting a perfect 600 in air rifle on Sunday.
It is believed to be that they became the first set of teammates in NCAA history to shoot a perfect score at the same competition. It was the first 600 in a competition for Baldwin, while it was the third time in his rookie campaign that Wee posted a perfect score in air rifle.
The duo helped the #8 Navy rifle team break three school records as the Midshipmen swept a weekend of competitions in Charleston, S.C. that featured a victory over #6 Georgia Southern (W, 4745-4741).
The two shooters led the Mids each day of competition over the weekend, helping Navy to new school records in smallbore (2363), air rifle (2386), and aggregate (4745).
On Saturday, Wee and Baldwin led the charge with both shooters carding scores in the 1190s. Wee shot a season-high 594 in smallbore to go along with a 599 to tie his aggregate best at 1193. Baldwin tied her career-best score in smallbore with a 594, while carding a 598 in air rifle for a new career high 1192. In Sunday action, Wee and Baldwin used smallbore scores of 589 and 588, respectively, to go along with their perfect 600s in air rifle to lead the team with an 1189 and 1188 correspondingly.
