Setting the Stage
• Opening Draw: Fresh off its overtime win at Jacksonville on Tuesday evening, Navy (5-2, 1-1 Patriot League) returns to action on Saturday when it makes the short drive to Baltimore to battle #14/12 Johns Hopkins (4-2). Faceoff is slated for 1:00 pm at historic Homewood Field. Navy is led by Joe Amplo, who has put together a 48-35 record in his 7 seasons at the helm of the Mids' program, while Johns Hopkins' Peter Milliman has amassed a 44-39 record in 6 years as the program's head coach. Saturday's contest marks the 95th meeting in a series that dates back to 1908, Navy's first year as a varsity program.
• Follow the Action: The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription based) with Mike Corey and former Penn lacrosse head coach Mike Murphy on the call.  The game will be shown tape delayed on ESPNU on March 16 at 6:00 pm.  The game will also be carried live on 1430 AM WNAV with Joe Miller on the call. Patrick Flaherty (So / LSM) was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high 6 caused turnovers, 4 ground balls and an assist in the win over Bucknell last Saturday. The 6 takeaways are the 2nd most in program history and the most since Matt Rees' 6 vs. Air Force on Feb. 6, 2016. As a team, the Mids tied the school record (VMI, 2011) with 18 caused turnovers against the Bison.

1Â - Â Two of the most historic programs in the sport's history, Navy and Johns Hopkins will meet for the 95th time in series history. It will stand alone as the second-longest series (games played) in Navy history (105 vs. Army / 94 vs. Maryland).
The Sport's Most Historic Rivalries
• With one of the most storied programs in the sport of lacrosse, Navy has traditionally played 3 rivalry games that stand among the nation's longest.
• Army and Navy have met 105 times, marking the 7th-longest rivalry in college lacrosse. The 106th meeting will take place at Michie Stadium in West Point, N.Y. on April 11.
• Also appearing on the list of longest rivalries are the Navy-Maryland and Navy-Johns Hopkins series. The Mids have played Maryland 94 times, which is the 14th-longest rivalry. The two programs, however, have not met since 2019.
• The Navy-Johns Hopkins series also runs 94 games. After a two-year hiatus due to scheduling and another two due to the COVID pandemic, the Mids and Blue Jays rekindled their rivalry in March of 2022 in Baltimore. Navy scored an historic victory (11-10), defeating Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field for the first time since 1969. The Mids earned a 10-9 overtime win against the Blue Jays on their home field in 2024, marking the first time Navy has defeated Hopkins in Baltimore in back-to-back games since 1963 (10-5) and 1965 (15-6).Â
• Cornell-Hobart is the longest-running series in college lacrosse with the two teams meeting 143 times. The Big Red defeated the Statesmen 19-8 on Feb. 24.
Scouting Johns Hopkins
• Sixth-year head coach Peter Milliman has led Johns Hopkins to a 4-2 mark this season, playing 3 teams currently ranked among the USILA's top 20. The Blue Jays opened the season winning 3 in a row against Robert Morris (17-2), Towson (13-11) and Loyola (13-7) before dropping a 17-9 decision to North Carolina. Johns Hopkins bounced back with a 14-13 win over Virginia before falling to Syracuse 12-8 at home last Saturday.Â
• As a team, Johns Hopkins ranks among the top 10 in 4 statistical categories - #7 in clearing percentage (90.4), #7 in turnovers per game (13.50), #9 in assists per game (8.50) and #10 in extra-man offense (52.6). If there was a category in which the Blue Jays have struggled, it would be faceoff winning percentage. Johns Hopkins stands 49th nationally, winning 47.8 percent (74-157) of the draws to date.
• Six different players have produced double digits in the points column this season, including 4 with double-figure goals. Matt Collison (Sr / M) leads the team with 21 points on 13 goals and 8 assists, while Chuck Rawson (Jr / M) has produced 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists.
• Hunter Chauvette (Jr / A) leads the team with 17 goals, while Brooks English (Sr / M) has dealt out a team-best 12 assists.
• Dash Lamitie has started each of the 5 games in which he's played and has posted a 48.0 save percentage and a 10.38 goals-against average. Oran Gelinas has 1 start in 4 appearances ands has a 55.8 save percentage and a 10.26 GAA.
• Reece DiCicco (So / SSDM) leads the team in caused turnovers (12) and ground balls (23), while English has 7 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls.
• Joe Hobot (So) has taken the bulk of the faceoffs this season, winning 43 of the 74 (58.1) draws he's taken. Carter Kryszak (So) has won 13 of the 23 (56.5) faceoffs he's taken.
Navy-Johns Hopkins Series
• Saturday's contest marks the 95th meeting between Navy and Johns Hopkins and the 38th in Baltimore.
• The Blue Jays have dominated the series, holding a 64-29-1 advantage. They owned an amazing 36-game winning streak over the Mids that began in 1975 and was snapped in 2010, when Navy earned a 9-8 overtime win in Annapolis. Â
• Johns Hopkins leads the series in games played in Baltimore, 28-9. Navy, however, has won back-to-back games against the Blue Jays on their home field, defeating Johns Hopkins 11-10 on March 18, 2022 and 10-9 (OT) on March 15, 2024. Max Hewitt ('24) scored the game-winner for the Mids in both of those Navy victories.
• Navy has beaten Johns Hopkins just 4 times since 1975 (9-8 OT in 2010 / 8-2 in 2012 / 11-10 in 2022 / 10-9 OT in 2024).Â
• Eleven of the last 23 games between Navy and Johns Hopkins have been decided by 1 goal, including each of the last 2 played at Homewood Field. Additionally, 6 of those 11 one-goal games have gone into extra minutes.
Navy Vs. The Big Ten
• Outside of the Patriot League, Navy has faced teams that currently make up the Big Ten more than any other conference. The Mids own a 125-137-2 (47.7) record against the Big Ten which is comprised of Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers.
• The only team Navy has not faced in the Big Ten is Michigan, a program that was elevated to varsity status in 2012.
• Navy has faced Maryland the most, meeting 94 times with the Terps leading the series 60-33-1. Meanwhile, Saturday's contest marks the 95th meeting between Navy and Johns Hopkins with the Blue Jays leading 64-29-1.
• Navy earned a 12-11 victory over 11th-ranked Penn State on Feb. 21 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Alec Gregorek (So / A) is the older brother of Johns Hopkins sophomore attackman Liam Gregorek. Alec attended the Naval Academy Prep School after graduating from Shoreham-Wading River in 2023.
• Meanwhile,
Gavin Gregorek was a 4-year member of Navy's lacrosse team. He graduated last spring and was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy and is serving as a Naval Flight Officer.
