ANNAPOLIS, Md. – With all six traveling golfers finishing in the top-20, the Navy women's golf team secured a second-place finish at Monday and Tuesday's Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
Playing on the par-72, 5,947-yard River Course at the Kingsmill Resort, the Midshipmen posted a three-round team total of 44-over par 908. Navy opened with its best round of the tournament at 296 on Monday, the second-lowest round by Navy this season, while the team followed with rounds of 304 and 308 to close out the event.
Dartmouth claimed the team title, finishing first overall with a 21-over par 885 (284-294-307), while the Big Green's Sophie Thai took home the individual medal at 2-under par 214 (68-70-76).
Junior
Emma Tang led the Mids, finishing in fifth place with an 8-over par 224 by carding rounds of 74, 73 and 77. Freshman
Angelina Kim also secured a top-10 finish for Navy, placing eighth with an 11-over par 227 as posted back-to-back rounds of 76 before closing with a 75 over the final 18 holes. It marked Tang's third top-10 finish of the season and Kim's second time placing in the top-10.
Junior
Keira Howard (75-81-76) and sophomore
Megan Kirkpatrick (71-79-82) both tied for 12th place at 16-over par 232, as Kirkpatrick's 71 on Monday marked the lowest round by a Navy golfer this season. Senior
Sue Lee rounded out the scoring lineup, tying for 17th place with an 18-over par 234 (78-76-80).
Competing as an individual, sophomore
Vivian Cressman matched Howard and Kirkpatrick, tying for 12th overall with a 16-over-par 232 after shooting rounds of 74, 80 and 78.
Navy continues the season on Saturday with a match-play event against Delaware, hosted at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.
