BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its weekly track and field awards on Tuesday, recognizing two Navy student-athletes.
Nathan Kent was named track athlete of the week, while standout freshman
Jason Keiser took home the rookie-of-the-week honor.
Both athletes played crucial roles in Navy's narrow 103-100 victory over Army in the annual Star Meet on Saturday.
Kent anchored Navy's 4x400-meter relay team, which won the event in 3:13.10 to clinch the overall team win. He also dominated the sprints, capturing the 400-meter dash in 46.70 — the seventh-fastest time in the Mid-Atlantic region this year. Kent went on to win the 200 meters in 20.76, marking the second-fastest time in school history and the third-fastest in the region this season.
Keiser secured vital points by winning both hurdle races. His time of 14.05 in the 110-meter hurdles ranks sixth in the Mid-Atlantic region, while his 53.27 finish in the 400-meter hurdles ranks 19th.
Navy returns to action this Friday and Saturday. The Midshipmen will host the Navy Spring Invitational in Annapolis and also send a contingent to the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville.
