Tang Takes the Lead as Women’s Golf Sits in First Place After Second Day of Patriot League Championship

Emma Tang Shoots 1-Under Par 71 on Saturday to Climb to Top of Leaderboard, Navy Opens Up 12-Stroke Lead Over Second-Place Bucknell

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Led by strong finishes from junior Emma Tang and sophomore Vivian Cressman on Saturday, the tournament-leading Navy women's golf team fired a team score of 8-over par 296 in the second round of the 2026 Patriot League Championship at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club.

Building a 12-stroke lead heading into Sunday's final round on its par-72, 6,084-yard home course, the Midshipmen posted an 8-over par 296 in Saturday's action that is tied for Navy's third-best team round this season. The round of 296 moved the Mids to a 36-hole score of 18-over par 594, holding the edge over second-place Bucknell's 30-over par 606 team total.

Tang climbed to the top of the player leaderboard by carding a 1-under par 71 on Saturday, as three birdies on the back-9 helped her take over first place at 2-over par 146 through two rounds. The 71 round marks Tang's second round at or below par this season.

Overcoming some early struggles, Cressman also tallied three birdies across the final nine holes Saturday to garner a 2-over par 74 for the round, keeping herself in second place at 4-over par 148.

Senior captain Hallie Brisco also had an impressive Saturday by shooting 3-over par 75 to pull herself into a tie for fifth, entering Sunday at 8-over par 152.

Despite struggling late, junior Keira Howard's 8-over par 80 performance on Saturday saw her end the afternoon in a tie for seventh, totaling 9-over par 153 through the first two rounds.

Tallying a 9-over par 81 in the second round, sophomore Megan Kirkpatrick finished the day tied for 14th with a 13-over par 157 to put her in range of the leaderboard's top-10.

Tied with Kirkpatrick in 14th place, senior Sue Lee bounced back after a rough Friday to collect a 4-over par 76 on Saturday and head into Sunday at 13-over par 157.

Navy will look to win its third-straight Patriot League Championship on Sunday, with the final round set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
