BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot Leagued announced its weekly women's lacrosse award winners and Navy's
Alyssa Chung and
Felicia Giglio were among the honorees. Chung was tabbed Patriot League Attacker of the Week, while Giglio claimed the conference's Goalkeeper of the Week accolade.
Â
The duo helped lead Navy to a pair of Patriot League road victories, defeating Lafayette, 24-1, and Colgate, 23-7. Offensively, the Midshipmen scored 47 goals in the two games last week – the most of any two-game span in program history; while defensively, Navy held its ninth and 10th opponents of the season to single-digit goals.
Â
Chung paced the offense with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists, while adding five ground balls, four draw controls, and three caused turnovers. The sophomore has now scored multiple goals in all 17 Patriot League games that she has played with 14 hat tricks in conference play. Against Lafayette, Chung led the team with a career-high 10 points, finishing with a pair of goals and a career-best eight assists. The 10 points tied for the fifth most in a game in program history, while the eight helpers tied for the third most in the Navy single-game record book. She finished with five points on three goals and a pair of helpers at Colgate.
Â
Giglio anchored a Midshipmen defense that held two teams to single-digit goals. She finished the week with 15 saves and four ground balls in just over 100 minutes of action (100:11) with a 3.59 goals against average and a 71.4 save percentage. Against the Leopards, Giglio and the Midshipmen defense allowed a season-low one goal in the game – the fewest allowed in a game since surrendering just one goal against George Washington on March 2, 2016. It was the fourth time in program history the Midshipmen have held an opponent to one goal or less. She finished with a season-high 10 saves, helping the Midshipmen hold the Leopards scoreless for the first 52 minutes of the ballgame. Against the Raiders, Giglio recorded five saves with 45.5 save percentage.
