ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Rising senior
Grace Burgoyne has been selected to captain the 2026 Navy volleyball team, head coach
Paco Labrador announced today.
"Grace is the very definition of a servant leader," said Labrador. Â "She has developed the ability to meet her teammates where they are, with empathy and understanding while at the same time she challenges and pushes them to meet and exceed the championship standards for the program. Â This team continues to take big steps forward thanks in large part to Grace's time and effort throughout the spring and into the summer."
Burgoyne made 14 starts and appeared in all but one of the team's 27 matches during the 2025 season. Â She ranks second among returning players with 92 sets played last fall and leads all returners in blocks (56) and blocks per set (0.61 bps). Â The middle hitter totaled 134 kills, averaged 1.46 kills per set and produced a .145 hitting percentage on the season. Â She improved to an average of 1.58 kills per set and a .176 hitting percentage during the league season when she started 10 of the team's 16 matches.
A political science major, Burgoyne has compiled a 3.29 cumulative grade-point average and has garnered academic honors from the USNA in three semesters. Â
