Navy's McCann Completes Action at NISRA Singles Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Navy junior squash standout Andy McCann (Coral Springs, Fla.) continued action Saturday at the 2001 NISRA Singles Championship at Harvard, posting a 1-1 record in the consolation bracket and completing his season.

McCann earned a 3-0 (15-11, 15-10, 15-12) sweep over Penn's Roberto Kriete who had beaten McCann last week at the NISRA Team Championship in New Haven, Conn. Kriete had defeated McCann in four games. Meanwhile, the Navy junior fell to Western Ontario's Robert Haider in the consolation semis, 15-11, 15-10, 15-13.

McCann posted a 2-2 record at the 2001 NISRA Singles Championship and ended the season moving into the top 40 of the national individual rankings.
