Sprint Football To Be Featured Monday on ESPN and ESPN2

Annapolis, Md. - The Navy sprint football team and the Collegiate Sprint Football League will be featured on ESPN and ESPN2, Monday, Nov. 29, during the program "NFL Films Presents."

The half-hour show, which will be aired three times, will debut at 3:30 a.m. on ESPN with a replay at 3:30 p.m. ESPN2 will carry a third broadcast at 6:30 p.m.

An NFL Films crew was on hand for Navy's 31-15 win over Army in the 2004 Pride Bowl on Oct. 3 in Newark, N.J. The feature, which will include highlights from the contest, will cover the history and current status of the sport and talk to athletes from around the league.

The CSFL provides another outlet for student-athletes to play collegiate football. Athletes must weigh no more than 165 pounds two days prior to the start of the season to be eligible for the league. The CSFL is comprised of five teams -- Army, Cornell, Penn, Princeton and Navy.

It will be the second time in as many years Navy sprint football has received national exposure. Sports Illustrated on Campus attended the 2003 league championship game between Army and Navy and wrote a feature on the sport.

The Midshipmen finished the 2004 season with a perfect 6-0 record and were crowned the outright CSFL champions for a league-leading 23rd time.
