ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy won 13 titles and cruised to a 105-point victory in a four-team quadrangular Saturday at Ingram Field. Darrel Hunter led the Mids with individual titles in the shot put and discus and nine other individuals won one title each. Navy also swept the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays.
Hunter led Navy's 259-point effort with two victories in the weight throws. In the shot put, Hunter won with a heave of 50-10.75 inches, then took home the discus title with a toss of 146-10. The Mids won five of the six field events. Kelly Stephens led a 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault with a height of 15-5.
Michael Levinson led a 1-2-3 Navy finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a clocking of 56.35. Serge Burmudez was victorious in the hammer throw with a throw of 160-2. In the high jump, Navy's Cole Herron won with a jump of 6-4.75 inches. In the triple jump, Dante Marshall won with a leap of 48-3.5 inches.
Michael Niemi won the title in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:28.91. In the 110-meter high hurdles, Marcus Scarborough won with a clocking of 15.02 seconds. Jamar Green followed with a title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.94. Paul Harris followed Green's title with a 800-meter run title in 1:52.71.
Lastly, Navy won both relay titles in the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay with clockings of 42.99 and 3:18.01.
The Mids will host a six-team event next Saturday, beginning at noon.
