PHILADELPHIA - Navy men's track and field sophomore Dante Marshall (Hermitage, Pa.) placed third in the triple jump as the Midshipmen competed in five events during the final day of the 112th Penn Relays on Saturday at Franklin Field.
Following his career-best performance that qualified him for the NCAA East Regional two weeks ago at Army, Marshall soared 48'4" (14.75 meters) in finishing third during the Eastern section of the triple jump.
Navy's 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Craig Meekins (Baldwin, N.Y.), sophomore Jefferson Sarchione (Alliance, Ohio), sophomore Lucas Burke (Bakersfield, Calif.) and sophomore Ben Kozy (Houston, Texas) combined for a 7:38.51 clocking to finish in 12th place.
The Midshipmen also finished 12th in their other relay event on Saturday, as senior Ty Rose (Germantown, Tenn.), Kozy, Sarchione and freshman Andrew Grant (Statham, Ga.) recorded a time of 17:00.24 in the 4xMile relay.
Sophomore Bo Lawson (Fredon, N.J.) came in 15th during the javelin throw with a toss of 174'11" (53.32 meters), while senior Serge Bermudez (Houston, Texas) placed 27th in the hammer throw with a distance of 163'4" (49.80 meters).
The Midshipmen return to action with the Patriot League Championship, hosted by Holy Cross, on May 5-6 in Worcester, Mass.
