PRINCETON, N.J. - Navy men's track and field sophomore Paul Harris (Woodbury, Minn.) accounted for five of its 6.67 points as the Midshipmen placed 38th at the IC4A Championship at Princeton's William Weaver Track and Field Stadium this weekend.
George Mason won the IC4A Championship with a team score of 59 points, followed by Cornell's 51 points in second and Penn's 48 points for third place.
Harris crossed the finish line in 1:50.29 during the finals of the 800-meter run to place fourth on Sunday. One day earlier, the sophomore earned a spot in the finals with a time of 1:49.79, his second-fastest time of the year.
Navy owned two of the top-10 distances in the distance throw on Saturday. Sophomore Darryl Hunter (Des Moines, Iowa) landed eighth with a throw of 153'1" (46.65 meters), while classmate Andre Barber (Carrollton, Texas) came in 10th with a 148'1" (45.13 meters) effort. Hunter also competed in the shot put on Sunday, as he released a toss of 50'6-1/4" (15.40 meters) to finish in 12th place.
The Midshipmen grabbed their final points of the weekend in the high jump. Juniors Cole Herron (Sanger, Calif.) and Stephen White (Marietta, Ga.) tied for eighth place with a clearance of 6'8-1/4" (2.04 meters).
Navy placed among the top 15 in four other events during the weekend. Junior Michael Niemi (Duluth, Minn.) registered a time of 9:11.87 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to finish ninth on Friday evening. Senior Marcus Scarborough (Columbia, S.C.) recorded a career-best time of 14.58 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles to rank 13th during the prelims on Saturday.
The 4x100-meter relay of junior Michael Levinson (Willingboro, N.J.), sophomore Brandon Vier (Cypress, Texas), freshman Shun White (Raleigh, Tenn.) and sophomore Reggie Campbell (Sanford, Fla.) combined for an 11th-place preliminary round time of 41.80 seconds. Sophomore William Ricks (Sussex, Va.), junior Cameron Lindsay (Kernersville, N.C.), Levinson and Harris teamed up for a 3:15.13 clocking in the 4x400-meter relay to finish 13th in the prelims.
Navy's qualifiers that won an event at the Patriot League Championship last weekend or met the regional qualifying standards will compete at the NCAA East Regional Championship on May 26-27 in Greensboro, N.C.
