ITHACA, N.Y. - The Navy tennis concluded its fall season this weekend with a trio of Midshipmen each winning at least one singles matches at the Cornell Fall Invitational.
Owen Bullard (So., Concord, N.C.), Ramsey Lemaich (Jr., Danville, Calif.) and Marcus Rebersak (Fr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) were all entered into the A Flight in singles at the three-day tournament that was contested at the Reis Tennis Center on the Cornell campus. Bullard and Lemaich both won their respective opening round matches, with Bullard eventually advancing into the quarterfinal round of the draw. Though Rebersak lost his main draw match, he did post a victory in the consolation draw of the flight.
In doubles, the Navy tandem of Bullard and Lemaich lost an 8-6 decision to Binghamton's team of Sven Vloedgraven and Gilbert Wong in the first round of the A flight.
"We had a solid start to the tournament in singles," said Navy assistant coach John Moreland. "It was nice to see Ramsey and Owen not just win their first matches, but win them in straight sets. Ramsey then played well in a 6-4, 6-4 loss, with Owen eventually losing to Jeremy Feldman, last year's Ivy League Player of the Year.
"It also was good to see Marcus bounce back and win a close consolation round match against Army's John Lucero."
