GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Andrew Hanko (Montville, N.J.) finished 21st overall in the quarterfinals of the 1,500-meter run on Saturday at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds at North Carolina A&T's Irwin Bell Track.
Hanko turned in a time of 3:56.03, which was good for 10th in the second of two 12-man quarterfinals heats in the 1,500.
Navy's third-year distance standout was in the hunt for a bid to nationals for much of the way, but fell back over the final 400 meters and wound up finishing 4.12 seconds off the final qualifying spot.
The effort brings to an end a terrific junior season for Hanko, who captured four individual Patriot League titles and IC4A All-East laurels in the 1,500.
