PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Navy men's track and field team (13-0) wrapped up its participation in the 118th Penn Relays in front of 50,000 fans at Franklin Field on Saturday. Navy competed in two field events and in two relays on the third and final day of competition. There is no team scoring at the Penn Relays.

"Just like yesterday we had a couple of good legs in the relays," head coach Stephen Cooksey said. "But the highlight today was our guys taking fourth and seventh in the college division of the hammer throw. Now we are looking ahead to the Patriot Leagues next weekend and we feel like we will be in the hunt."

Senior Chris Ricks placed fourth in the college division of the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 183-2 (55.85m, IC4A) and sophomore Billy Grammer was seventh with a personal record of 181-3 (55.25m, IC4A). Ricks' mark was the second-best of his career behind only his 2010 PR of 56.06m.

Sophomore Brandon Swindler placed 16th with a mark of 163-4 (49.80m).

Freshman Aaron Zack took 17th place in the college division of the javelin with a mark of 189-6 (57.78m), his third-best mark of the season.

Navy placed seventh in the college division of the 4x800m relay with a time of 7:35.95 (IC4A). The 4x800m squad consisted of sophomore Weston Kennedy, senior Matt Evers, freshman Joshua Kingsland and sophomore Cody Thompson.

Navy had a team entered into the 4xMile Championship of America, but after a Navy runner tripped, the team fell out of contention and stepped off.

The Navy women's track team placed 12th in the Championship of America 4x800m relay on Saturday with an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:06.80. The 4x800m team consisted of freshman Shannon Cuthbert, freshman Annie-Norah Beveridge, senior Mansfield Murph and senior Jess Palacio. Palacio turned in a 2:09 split on her leg, the fifth-fastest anchor leg in the field. Oregon, Tennessee and Georgetown went 1-2-3 in the event.

The Navy track programs will next compete at the Patriot League Outdoor Championship at Holy Cross next Friday-Saturday.
