Oct. 7, 2014 ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Collegiate Sprint Football League has selected Navy defensive back Brady Flies (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) as its defensive player of the week in Tuesday's weekly award announcements.
Flies was instrumental in helping Navy improve to 3-0 on the year with a hard-fought 21-19 win over previously unbeaten Penn last Saturday in Philadelphia. The senior defensive back made a career-high nine tackles, including eight of the solo variety. In addition to setting a personal-best in tackles, Flies recorded a career-high 2.5 sacks. His sacks set Penn's offense back 21 yards.
This is the first time that Flies, a the 2013 honorable mention All-CSFL award winner, has been named the CSFL Defensive Player of the Week in his career.
Flies and the Mids will be back in action this Friday night with a home game against the Eagles of Post University. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
