LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Navy intercollegiate sailing team was one of 29 college teams in Long Beach, California this past weekend for the annual Rose Bowl Regatta, where the Mids finished in 10th place.

This unusual event also hosted 60 high school teams all sailing at the same venue, producing quite the scene.

While light winds delayed the start of racing on both days of competition, the regatta was able to get in eight races per division.

The Midshipmen had their ups and downs throughout the event and thought they had sailed well enough to secure a top five finish, only to discover that they had crossed the starting line a split second too early in race 8A, dropping the team to 10th place overall.

Patrick Snow and Mary Morocco finished seventh in A division while Jimmy Madigan and Will Hawley were 14th in B.

This is Navy's only competition of the winter until late February, when the spring season begins.
