MURRAY, Ky. - The Navy rifle team is ranked 11th in this week's Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll. After another week of strong performances, the Mids jumped up three spots from last week's No. 14 position. The No. 11 national ranking is Navy's highest since the close of the 2014-15 season.

Navy is coming of a two-match weekend where they went 3-1 overall. On Saturday, the Mids collected a pair of wins on the strength of a 4,625-point showing versus the Coast Guard Academy and the University of Sciences. On Sunday in its GARC opener, Navy turned in a season-high 4,648 score to defeat the Coast Guard Academy and fall by 21 points to Memphis.

After three matches, the Mids are 5-1 and have seen strong efforts from across its ten-person team. All four academic classes are represented when looking at the stats for Navy so far as Amy Hammer (Central City, Pa.) and Alex Muzzioli (Tiverton, R.I.) lead the freshmen contingent with Hammer posting a team-high 1163.0 aggregate average and Muzzioli recording the third-best smallbore average at 572.7. Senior Daniel Jonas (Allentown, N.J.) ranks second in smallbore, air rifle and aggregate averages on the team, though his 1,169 individual aggregate against Memphis on Sunday was a single-match team-high. Junior Thomas Sarant (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Josh Watson (Enterprise, Ala.) are in the middle of the top-five with respective aggregate averages of 1157.3 and 1154.7, that rank third and fourth on the team. Overall, the Mids have six shooters with smallbore averages of 570-plus and four air rifle averages of 580-plus.

All nine Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) teams are in this week's top-20 poll with West Virginia at No. 1, followed by No. 5 Kentucky, No. 8 Memphis, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 11 Navy, No. 13 N.C. State, No. 14 Army and No. 19 Akron.

Navy closes out the home portion of its fall schedule with a match this Saturday morning versus Kentucky. The first shot between the Mids and Wildcats is set for 9 a.m. at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range.
