Oct. 17, 2016 CENTER VALLEY, Pa. â€" Navy women's soccer senior Rachel Feldman (Danville, Calif.) and freshman Cadie Higginson (New Orleans, La.) garnered Patriot League weekly laurels, which was announced by the league office on Monday.
Feldman was named the league's offensive player of the week, while Higginson earned the league's rookie of the week nod for the second time this season.
Feldman had her best match of her career in Navy's 4-3 double-overtime win over Colgate on Saturday as she tallied her first career hat trick in regulation. The senior forward began Saturday's match with a goal in the first half to give the Mids a 1-0 through 45 minutes. Feldman then scored two goals in a span of four minutes to force overtime. She became the eighth different Mid and first since Paloma Perez versus Lehigh on Nov. 2, 2012 to record a hat-trick. Feldman is tied-for fourth in the Patriot League with seven goals.
Higginson continued a strong freshman campaign on Saturday as she tallied the golden goal in the 106th minute to launch the Mids in sole possession of third place in the league. She recorded the program's 24th golden goal and first since Kaylie Davidson's versus St. Bonaventure on Sept. 8, 2013. Higginson's goal at 105:50 was the fourth latest goal at Navy.
Navy will host its next two Patriot League opponents, beginning with American on Wednesday (7 PM) at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The match will be streamed live and for free on PatriotLeague.TV with Joe Miller on the call.
