ANNAPOLIS, Md. ––
Dominick Wallace (So., La Jolla, Calif.) from the men's swimming and diving team has been selected as this week's Navy Athlete of the Week, presented by Northrop Grumman.
Wallace helped the Mids to a pair of victories over North Carolina (161-34) and Penn State (163.5-131.5) last week. He began the meet by placing second by six-tenths of a second to teammate
Daniel Cook (So., Virginia Beach, Va.) in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:39.76. Wallace then posted a time of 1:48.34 to win the 200 backstroke by 1.26 seconds.
Navy's win over North Carolina was the first for the Mids since the teams began competing against one another annually during the 2012-13 season, and the victory over Penn State halted a two-year losing streak by Navy.
The Mids, 11-2 this year, will compete in one more dual meet this season Jan. 25 at Columbia.
