Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. –– The Navy (16-10) men's tennis team completed its six-match slate in Southern California Wednesday night with a 4-3 loss to Point Loma (2-4) in San Diego.

The Sea Lions earned wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead.  Point Loma increased its lead out to 3-0 with straight-set victories at Nos. 3 and 4 singles.  Navy placed its first point of the match on the board when Conners O'Brien (Fr., Rensselaer, N.Y.) won a 6-2, 6-4 decision at the No. 5 flight.  Peter Lohrbach (So., Little Neck, N.Y.) then made the score 3-2 when he posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles.  

Point Loma clinched the overall match win with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles.  The final match on the courts ended with Sam Vagner (Fr., Staten Island, N.Y.) recording a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

"Point Loma came out strong early in doubles to earn the point," said Navy associate head coach John Moreland.  "We started to change the momentum early in singles, but in the end we couldn't come up with the fourth win we needed."

Navy has posted a 4-4 record this spring in matches decided by the final score of 4-3.  This includes a victory over UC Riverside and a loss to Concordia during the team's current trip to the West Coast.

The Mids now return home to play host to a pair of doubleheaders this weekend, a schedule that will be capped by the team's first Patriot League match of the season.  Weather permitting, the matches will be played outside on the USNA Tennis Courts.  The matches will be moved to the Tose Family Tennis Center if weather requires them to be played inside.
