ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 14 Navy women's lacrosse team (14-3, 8-1 Patriot League) begin Patriot League Tournament action against Army West Point (14-4, 6-3 Patriot League) on Thursday, May 2 at 8:00 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md.
The Midshipmen earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament for the fourth straight season, while the Black Knights are making their tournament debut after securing the No. 3 seed. Navy received a bye into the semifinals, while Army West Point defeated Lehigh, 12-9, in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

Patriot League Tournament History
The Navy women's lacrosse team has qualified for the Patriot League Tournament every year (12 years). The Midshipmen have won six championships (2010, '11, '12, '13, '17, '18), while finishing as the runner-up three times (2009, '15, '16).
Navy is16-5 (.762) all-time in the Patriot League Tournament, including a 9-2 (.818) record in the semifinals and a 6-3 (.667) mark in the championship game.
The Midshipmen are no stranger to the Ridley Athletic Complex, notching a 6-3 (.667) record at the Patriot League Tournament in Baltimore.
In the Patriot League Tournament, Navy has 5-3 (.625) record against the remaining field of competitors. The Midshipmen are 2-2 (.500) against the Greyhounds in the tournament, while holding a 3-1 (.750) advantage over Colgate.
All-Time Series
The game between Navy and Army West Point will mark the fifth meeting between the two programs. The Midshipmen lead the all-time series, 4-0 (1.000). The teams have met two times each in Annapolis and West Point. The game in Baltimore will mark the first neutral site meeting between the two programs.
On April 14, 2018, Navy posted a 20-7 victory over Army West Point at Michie Stadium in West Point, N.Y. The game marked the first time in women's lacrosse that the Midshipmen and Black Knights competed against each other as part of the Army- Navy Star Series presented by USAA.
This season, the Midshipmen won the women's lacrosse Star with a 21-8 victory at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Mids were led by a pair of attackers.
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) finished the game with nine points, while
Nicole Victory (Issaquah, Wash.) recorded a career-high with eight points. Larkin finished with four goals and five assists, while Victory chipped in a pair of goals with a career-best six assists.
Navy Athletics took the 2018-19 Star Series from Army, 13-11. Navy is now 21-1-1 over the last 23 years against Army in the Star Series.
Scouting the Midshipmen
This season,
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) leads the team with 104 points, scoring team-best 55 goals and boasting a team-high 49 assists.
Nicole Victory (Issaquah, Wash.) is second with 45 points (21g 24a) ahead of
Kayla Harris (Annapolis, Md.) who has 42 points (32g 10a).
Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) have 41 points apiece to round out Navy's 30-point scorers. Heyward has 25 goals and 16 assists, while O'Sullivan has 34 goals and seven helpers.
Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.) leads the team with 106 total draws, while Heyward is second with 67. With 14 draws against Lafayette, Roelofs became the second freshman in Navy history to collect 100 or more draw controls, joining Loren Generi (2012-15) who had 118 as a freshman in 2012.
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.) and Heyward pace the team in caused turnovers. Valenti has a team-high 25 CTs, while Heyward has 23. In addition, Valenti paces the team with 43 ground balls.
Defensively, goalie
Gab Harchelroad (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has logged just under 830 of the 1,020 minutes between the pipes for the Midshipmen. This season, she is 13-3, including a pair of victories over ranked opponents (No. 19 Towson, No. 23 Georgetown). The senior has made 86 stops and is second on the team with 41 ground balls, while adding 11 caused turnovers.
Scouting the Opponent
Army West Point enters the weekend with a 14-4 overall record, earning the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament with a 6-3 conference mark. The Black Knights advanced to the conference tournament for the first time in their four-year history, posting a 12-9 decision over Lehigh to advance to the semifinals.
Sophomore attacker Jackie Brattan paced Army West Point's offense with four goals and one assist while junior midfielder Samantha Stewart had two goals and two assists to lead the Black Knights to its first postseason victory.
Junior goalkeeper Maddie Burns made eight of her 10 saves after halftime holding the Mountain Hawks to three goals in the second half. She allowed nine goals to earn the victory for the Black Knights.
Patriot League Recognition
Five members of the second-seeded Navy women's lacrosse team were named to the 2019 All-Patriot League Team announced Monday, including
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) who was named the Patriot League Attacker of the Year. Four of Navy's five all-league selections were named to the first team.
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.),
Kayla Harris (Annapolis, Md.),
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.) joined Larkin on the first team, while
Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.) was named Second Team All-Patriot League.
On Wednesday, the Patriot League announced its 2019 Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Patriot League Team seniors
Anne Richter (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Valenti were among those selected. For Valenti, it is her third time being named to the All-Academic Team, while it is the first time for Richter to be recognized.

The No. 14 Navy women's lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-0 lead early and never looked back as the Midshipmen cruised to a 21-8 victory over Army West Point. The Mids improved to 4-0 over the Black Knights all-time, including a 2-0 mark in the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA.
Navy tallied 21 goals on 37 shots, including 26 shots on goal. The Mids were led by a pair of attackers.

Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.) tied a career high with 11 draw controls on the day.
At goal,
Gab Harchelroad (Pittsburgh, Pa.) picked up her 10th victory of the season. She surrendered seven goals with four saves to her credit, while adding a pair of ground balls. She was relieved by
Abbi Young (Alamo, Calif.) and
Annie Maloney (Ellicott City, Md.) who played the final 4:21 of the game, allowing one goal.
Last Time Out
Leading by one with 16 seconds on the clock, the No. 13 Navy women's lacrosse team secured the final draw of the game and ran out the clock to pick up a 13-12 win over Boston University at Nickerson Field in Boston.
Navy led by as many as four on two occasions – up 10-6 and 12-8 – but could not put away Boston. The Terriers continued to chip into the Midshipmen lead and closed the gap to 12-11 before
Nicole Victory (Issaquah, Wash.) took a pass from
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) and buried it in the back of the net to put the Mids up 13-11 with 3:38 to play.
Defense for both teams held over the next three minutes, but a turnover by Navy led to a goal by Boston with 16 seconds remaining in regulation. The Midshipmen were able to secure the final draw and close out the game for the one-goal victory.
With the win, Navy secured the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament.
Offensively, Navy scored 13 points on 30 shots. Six players combined for the 13 goals, including four who netted multiple goals in the game. Victory paced the scoring with four goals in the game, including the game winner. It was the second career hat trick for the sophomore.
Natalie Irwin (Annandale, Va.) also added a hat trick netting three goals, including a pair of free-position goals. Larkin and
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) scored two goals apiece. Larkin chipped in a team- and career-high six assists to finish with eight points.
With her eight points, Larkin finished the regular season with 104 points, making her the first player in Patriot League history with three 100-point seasons. Larkin tallied 108 points as a freshman in 2017, while leading the team with 117 points as a sophomore in 2018.
Navy used a solid defensive performance to keep the potent Boston offense at bay. The Mids caused 13 of BU's 17 turnovers in the game. In addition, the Midshipmen's back line flustered the Terriers into a pair of shot clock violations. Victory, O'Sullivan, and
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.) paced the team with two caused turnovers apiece.
Gab Harchelroad (Pittsburgh, Pa.) picked up a team-high four ground balls, while
Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.) added three. Harchelroad tallied six saves on the day to pick up her 13th victory of the season.
The Midshipmen won the draw control battle 16-to-11. BU won six of the first seven draws, but Navy made in-game adjustments and was able to pull down 15 of the final 20 draws in the game. Heyward led the team with seven draw controls, while
Kayla Harris (Annapolis, Md.) and O'Sullivan added four and three, respectively.
