PRINCETON, N.J. – The Navy track and field team posted a solid outing on the first day of competition at the 2019 IC4A / ECAC Championships. On the men's side, the Midshipmen finished the day in first place, while the women ended the day in 11th.
The men saw four individuals named IC4A All-East, finishing in the top eight, while the women also notched four ECAC All-East performers. In addition, the men's 4x100m relay team picked up All-East accolades.

Sean Brennan came in second in the hammer.
John Finnegan took second in the 800m with a new PR. The women had three score in the javelin so it was good first day. We brought our kids in hoping to work on some things and compete hard. They did that and I couldn't be happier."
On the men's side, the Midshipmen had four individuals and a relay team finish in the top eight to earn IC4A All-East distinction and finish the day in first place with 37 team points. The Mids lead Monmouth who is in second with 28 points, followed by Iona (25), Army West Point (22), and New Hampshire (20).
Hayden Fox (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the javelin, notching a winning throw of 65.77m (215-09). He was joined on the podium by
Skyler Mason (Oakdale, Pa.) who came in third with a distance of 63.01m (206-09).
Sean Brennan (Westfield, N.J.) came in second in the hammer throw with a distance of 62.50m (205-01), while
John Finnegan (Spring, Texas) notched a personal best time of 1:49.84 to finish second in the 800m. Joining the men's individual IC4A All-East performer was the 4x100m relay team of
Aaron Watson (Union City, Mich.),
Austin Pierce (Dahlonega, Ga.),
Richard Hansen (Houston, Texas), and
Demetrius Lanier (Palm Coast, Fla.) who claimed fourth place with a time of 40.75.
The women finished the day in 11th place with 15 total points despite just eight individuals and one relay team competing. The Midshipmen had four women's athletes ECAC All-East honors for finishing in the top eight.
Ariana McKenzie (Potomac, Md.) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 58.47m (191-10), which is the second-longest throw in Navy women's track and field history. In the javelin, the Midshipmen had three athletes earn All-East. Emma Foster (Poteet, Texas) finished fourth with a distance of 46.77m (153-05), which was the ninth farthest throw in school history. Jadyn Tiracave (Ashville, Pa.) was sixth with a throw of 44.33m (145-05), while Sarah Morris (Mobile, Ala.) was seventh with distance of 43.71m (143-05).
Navy continues competition in the 2019 IC4A / ECAC Championships on Sunday, May 12 at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. Competition begins with field events kicking off at 9:30 a.m. and running events starting at 10:30 a.m. Live results will be available throughout the meet.
