Two Matches Ahead This Weekend to Start Men’s Tennis Season

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– The Navy men's tennis team will open its 2020 regular season Saturday with a pair of matches.  The team will split into two squads, with half playing at Dartmouth at 3:30 p.m. and the other half playing host to St. Bonaventure at 5 p.m. in the Tose Family Tennis Center.

"It's definitely an exciting time at practice preparing for the dual match season," said Navy head coach Chris Garner.  "The team is working hard to shake the rust off from holiday break.  I know the players are looking forward to the chance to play against some great competition this weekend."

The Mids finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 31-14, won all six of their Patriot League regular season matches and won the league tournament to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.

Back for the Mids are 11 letter winners from last year's squad, including all but one of Navy's six singles players who took to the court during the team's NCAA Tournament match against North Carolina.

Dartmouth posted a 15-9 record a year ago and ended its Ivy League slate with a 4-3 record.  The Big Green garnered an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament where they lost, 4-2, to No. 20 Michigan.

St. Bonaventure compiled a 6-16 overall record last season and posted a 0-5 record against Atlantic 10 competition.
