Larkin Named to Initial Tewaaraton Award Watch List

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The initial Tewaaraton Award Watch List was announced on Thursday evening and Navy women's lacrosse's Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) was named to the list. The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the Tewaaraton Award. 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of the Award.

This is the third consecutive season that Larkin has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List (2018, '19, '20). Last season, Larkin advanced past the initial cut to become a Tewaaraton Award Nominee (Top 25).

One of the most decorated women's lacrosse players in Navy history, Larkin is an All-American (2017, '18, '19), All-Region ('18, '19), and All-Conference performer (2017, '18, '19). She holds the Navy and Patriot League career record for points (357 and counting), while also holding the Midshipmen career mark for assists (167). Larkin ranks fifth in Navy history with 190 career goals, while also ranking in the school's top five in points per game, goals per game, assists per game, shots attempted, and shots on goal.

Larkin is 43 points shy of becoming the fourth player in NCAA history to record 400 or more points in a career. In addition, the senior is 33 helpers shy of becoming the third player in NCAA history with 200 or more career assists.

The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

Players not named to the initial lists have several opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions, if applicable, will be announced on March 12 and April 2. On April 23, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Nominees can be players from the watch lists or not from the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.

Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 7 and invited to the 20th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on May 28.

About the Tewaaraton Foundation
Founded at the University Club of Washington, DC and first presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton
Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and
female college lacrosse player in the United States. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of
Elders and U.S. Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse's centuries-old roots in
Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity and advances the
mission of this award. Each year, the Tewaaraton Award celebrates one of the six tribal nations of the Iroquois Confederacy – the Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora – and presents two scholarships to students of Native American descent.
