ANNAPOLIS, Md. - With the unforeseen conclusion to the 2019-20 competition season for all collegiate teams, the Naval Academy Athletic Department will begin a series of posts titled "Sunday Salutes" to recognize and honor the student-athletes and seniors from Navy, who had their seasons cut short. The first program to be recognized with a Sunday Salute is Navy Gymnastics.
The Mids' Class of 2020 consists of
Lucas Beltran,
Cian McConnell,
Ryan Orce,
Ben Provost and team captain
Frank Bradley. During their three-and-a-half seasons of competition in Annapolis, these five Mids have earned three Star Meet victories over Army, as well as three postseason championships; the 2018 ECAC Championship, and both the ECAC and USAG Championships in 2019. In each of this class' first three seasons, the team qualified for and competed at the NCAA Championship, finishing 11th in the nation in 2017 and 2018 before reaching new levels in 2019 by placing 10th overall. The trajectory of the program continued upward in 2020 as the team finished the truncated season ranked fifth in the nation.
