ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy's offshore sailing team started its 2020-21 season at the Annapolis National Offshore One Design Regatta this weekend where the Midshipmen had three boats compete in the J/105 class on the Chesapeake Bay.

Navy's top-finishing boat in the 16-boat class was Dreadnought after Paul Jervis led his crew to a fifth-place finish. Jervis finished one point ahead of teammate and team captain Don Poirier on Avenger, who took sixth place in the field. The Midshipmen's final boat in the field was led by Katie Boyle as her crew aboard Constellation finished ninth overall.

Jervis's crew on Dreadnought included Grace Vandegrift, Adam Lance, Philip Smith, Matt Gillcrist and Megan Caraher.

Navy is back in action this coming weekend as it takes part in the Annapolis Yacht Club Labor Day Regatta on Sunday, September 6.
