ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy's offshore sailing team continued its fall slate as it had seven boats competing in the NASS Race to the Lighthouses on Saturday on the Chesapeake Bay.

What started as a gray dreary looking day turned into a spectacular day for boat racing. Easterly winds between 10 and 16 knots prevailed throughout the day. The event featured 96 boats in 14 different classes. The 21-mile course featured eight legs that took the fleet north under the Bay Bridge to the Sandy Point Light, then south back under the bridge to Thomas Point Light and then across the bay to Bloody Point Light before returning north to finish near Greenbury Point.

In the PHRF A0 class,
Katie Boyle led her crew of 13 aboard the Ker 50 Wahoo to a first-place finish in the seven-boat class.
Paul Jervis skippered the J/133 Wasp to a fourth-place finish with
Nicholas Hogan leading Farr 40 Ranger to fifth and
Matt Gillcrist guided Zephyr to finish seventh. Boyle's crew on Wahoo included

Paul Rahner,
Adrian Schalk,
Matthew Malone,
Riley Plosica,
Katarina Katzarov,

Adam Lance lead his crew of eight on the Navy 44 Invincible to a fourth-place finish in the 17-boat class. Lance's crew featured

Jonathan Pitts,
Aidan Ellsworth and
Madelyn Ploch.

In the 10-boat J/105 class,
Cory Routen paced his crew on Dreadnought to a third-place finish ahead of
Cade Gelhar and Avenger who finished seventh. Routen's crew included
Meade Tolen,
Jackson DuPaix,
John Neubauer,
Gregory Smith and
Vaughn Studer.

Navy is back in action on Saturday, September 26 for the Annapolis Yacht Club Race to Solomons.
