BETHLEHEM, Pa. –– Members of the Navy swimming and diving teams garnered each of the four Patriot League weekly awards for the sport that were announced on Tuesday.
Martina Thomas (Jr., Fayetteville, Ark.) and
Luke Johnson (Sr. Charlotte, N.C.) were selected as the league's swimmers of the week and
Hannah Montau (Jr., Germantown, Md.) and
Jake Hedrick (Sr., Hummelstown, Pa.) earned diver-of-the-week accolades.
These were the league's first weekly awards of the season.
Thomas won the 200 free and 500 free events in Navy's 196-81 win over Towson on Feb. 6. She posted a time of 1:49.43 to win the 200 free by 2.8 seconds and recorded a time of 4:55.67 to win the 500 free by 6.12 seconds.
Johnson took first place in the 500 free and 1000 free events during Navy's 188-100 win over Towson. He recorded a time of 9:16.86 to win the 1000 free by just under 19 seconds and posted a time of 4:30.52 to win the 500 free by five seconds.
Montau won both boards in Navy's victory over Towson. She scored 288.68 points to win the one-meter event and 308.25 points to win the three-meter board. Together, her margin of victory in the two events was 93 points. Additionally, she set a new career-high dual-meet score with her one-meter posting and her three-meter score was one point shy of tying her career standard in the event during a dual meet.
Hedrick earned victories in both the one-meter and three-meter events in Navy's win over Towson. He totaled 327.83 points to win the one meter and scored 340.05 points to win the three meter. His one-meter total was a career high for a dual meet and his three-meter tally was one point behind his best dual meet score on the board.
Navy will next be in action Feb. 27 when the Mids compete at Army.
