ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and field team had three student-athletes – Alex Rizzo (Bronxville, N.Y.), Katie Halbert (Keller, Texas), and Greyson Gravitt (Flower Mound, Texas) – combine to win four weekly accolades for their performances last weekend at the annual Wesley Brown Invitational. 

Rizzo and Gravitt claimed the Patriot League Men's Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week honors respectively. On the women's side, Halbert was named PL Field Athlete of the Week, while also being named the NAAA Co-Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman. 

Halbert shared the NAAA Athlete of the Week honor with Jennifer Coleman of Navy women's basketball. 



Rizzo won the 1-mile run with a career-best time of 4:00.98, taking the event by two and a half seconds. The junior's time was the third fastest in Navy history and was less than a second away from becoming the second athlete in Navy school history to run a sub-4-minute mile. Rizzo's time ranks 28th in the NCAA this season and is the fastest in the Patriot League this year. The time was an IC4A qualifying time and set the Wesley A. Brown Field House facility record.

Halbert registered three school records during the pentathlon on opening night of the Wesley Brown Invitational, setting the school record in the 60m hurdles, long jump, and pentathlon. The indoor captain opened up the meet with a school-record performance of 8.66 in the 60m hurdles, besting the previous time, originally set in 2007, by 0.04 seconds. With her first attempt in the long jump, she registered a distance of 5.98m (19-07.50) to beat the previous record by 0.05m (originally set in 2007). In the fifth and final event of the pentathlon, Halbert tallied 707 points to give her the victory in the multi-event and tie the Navy school-record 3,709 total points.

Gravitt recorded an IC4A qualifying mark in the 800m, winning the event with a time of 1:53.68. The freshman's time was the second-best of the season for Navy and tops among freshmen. Gravitt's time ranks fourth in the Patriot League (top freshman) in the event.



Navy returns to action next weekend as the Midshipmen travel to Fairfax, Va. for the annual Patriot Games hosted by George Mason. The meet is slated for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28-29 at the George Mason Field House.
