The Navy squash program opens its 75th season as a varsity program and fifth under the direction of head coach
Tyler Osborne when it travels to Charlotte, N.C. for a two-day round-robin tournament featuring Davidson, Duke, Navy, North Carolina, N.C. State, Richmond and Washington & Lee. The Charlotte Squash Club will play host to the event with Navy and North Carolina kicking off the competition Friday at 7:00 pm.

All five of Navy's opponents this weekend compete as club teams with Davidson, Duke and N.C. State meeting the Midshipmen for the first time. Navy has previously played North Carolina (5-0) and Richmond (2-0).

The ladder was set on Oct. 21 following the annual week-long Barb Tournament that was won by senior
Millen Randell. Randell swept second-year standout
Matt Wang in three games to claim the title for a second-consecutive year.
Established in 1957 by the late Admiral Eugene Fluckey, a Medal of Honor recipient, the Barb has seen 42 different midshipmen win the coveted trophy. Sixteen men have claimed ownership of the trophy multiple times with six players (Spencer Wall 84-86, Jamie Slough 92-94, Andy McCann 00-02, Tucker George 05-08, Andrew McGuinness 12, 14-15, Jack Lentz 18-20) winning it three times. Randell will receive a ships clock at the Prizes and Awards ceremony during Commissioning Week and his name will be engraved on the Barb Trophy.

• Navy finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 15-12 record that included three-consecutive wins at the Collegiate Squash Association Team Championship that saw the seventh-seeded Mids win the Summers Cup. The Mids upset second-seeded Brown in the opening round by a 5-4 count before advancing to the finals behind a 5-4 win against third-seeded Amherst on Saturday evening.Navy claimed the title be defeating fifth-seeded Tufts by a familiar score of 5-4.

Tommy Rankin - and was selected by a vote of his peers to serve as team captain for the 2022-23 campaign.
What's Ahead
Navy will travel to Virginia on Tuesday to battle the Cavaliers, who finished last season ranked eighth nationally, at 5:30 pm before returning home to play host to its annual Veteran's Day tournament slated for Nov. 11-13.
